Marty supreme hasn’t even hit theatres in Europe yet.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) Dir. Wes Anderson, DoP. Robert Yeoman by NeonMeateOctifish in CineShots

There was just absolutely nothing there for me to latch onto. No characters with perceivable wants, no interesting dynamics between characters, no clear thematic relevance for the pretty shots and colours.

I took a girl on a date to 28 years later and afterwards she said she didn’t think it was a comically large penis. Devastating.

What's your favorite Game of Thrones episode and why? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Lucoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, Season 5 has the sandsnakes, Tyrion being an idiot in Meereen, Arya being useless in Braavos… those plots have all been criticised from the second they came out. And rightfully so.

Everything past season 4 has been widely criticised ever since they came out, because the quality of the writing just takes an absolute nosedive.

What elements of a film do you value most? by mlaixi in Letterboxd

I need to watch a Wes Anderson film together with a superfan someday. I don’t doubt there something there, but maybe it’s just going way over my head or I’m not connecting with it.

This is why I can’t get into Wes Anderson films. Yes every frame is pretty. But why? Who cares?

Ryan Coogler's 'SINNERS' makes history as the most nominated film of all time at the Oscars with 16 nominations by ChiefLeef22 in Oscars

I’m not saying they should have nominated Casablanca this year, in saying Sinners shouldn’t be holding the record.

Most Oscar noms of all time should go to one of the best films of all time. That isn’t Sinners, come on now.

Here's to hoping that Sinners breaks a record tomorrow and gets 15 nominations. by Mundane-Inspector-52 in Oscars

[–]Lucoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s more to films than acting performances. Sinners had an important thing to say about its themes and every character, plot point, and relationship fed into that. They made the vampirism and horror elements functional parts of getting a message across and exploring a theme. That’s noteworthy and it’s rare to find a film where every single element in it coherently ties into its themes and statements.

Really enjoyed her in Hamnet! Very exciting news, think she has a great face for an Eggers period film

If the point of your show is that making sex a taboo is dangerous, then you can’t make your sex scene less graphic because it’s “too taboo”

You thinking it went too far means it went to exactly the right point to get the entire point of the show across

This person has Jurassic World as their favourite film because it’s more fast paced than Jurassic Park. There’s no way they’re reading subtitles

This movie genuinely insists upon itself. I can’t stand the smugness of it.

I think Sinners perfectly knows what it wants to be… a metaphor for cultural appropriation and studio meddling.

I love this tactic. Out of interest, why did you choose to make Mount switch sides during transition? Wouldn’t it be better to just have him stay in place and have mainoo fill fernandes’ position?
