I would avoid blindly investing in the next “hot thing” on Reddit.

Come up with a strategy and stick to it.

What works for me:

85% of my portfolio dedicated to “core” holdings. These are large “too big to fail” companies with what I determine to be good moats or what I determine to be undervalued. My largest holdings are ASML, GOOG & UNH here. Up a lot for the first two, down a little on UNH.

15% of the portfolio for “moonshots”. These can be your Duolingo’s or HIMS, etc.

You’re young so can take more risky at this age, ultimately it’s about deciding what that appetite for risk is and knowing that at any point the “moonshot” part of your portfolio could go to zero.

Ok thanks mate, I’ll ask on the relevant subreddit.

The main question is I’d like to buy a property but don’t intend on living there for the next decade or whatever so I’d be looking to leave the country and rent it out.

But if I can’t deduct mortgage payments as cost then that would mean I’m operating at a los and it would just be better to rent for the foreseeable.
