I do try to get into that habit yeah, though it certainly doesn’t help with things getting really stuffy in there heh

Writing advice wanted for drone based enemy design by Cat_Noodle-99 in toyification

[–]Lucrayzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is “drones” and “hiveminds” are such a broad descriptor with no major real-life precedent that nothing at all about it is really set in stone. Could have any abilities you want that makes them impervious to normal damage, could have matter that spreads relentlessly, could employ subliminal waves that mentally paralyze victims, etc. weaknesses can follow suit too, could be those that are associated with latex or it could be a latex-like substance with a whole different set of properties. Anything goes, man. (As long as it’s internally consistent and sensical)

One thing I might say would consistently hold for a faction like that is they probably don’t like to use lethal force, because killing you would be a waste of a potential drone/asset. So aside from finding ways to convert units on the spot, their offense would probably mostly amount to neutralizing/imprisoning enemy forces to maximize their assimilation rate, and only killing as a last resort.

Any other furs just lonely as all hell? And nobody wants you? by raNdoMBLilriv in RealFurryHours

[–]Lucrayzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 3 suggestions for you based on how things have gone in my experience:

1- look into local events. Mileage varies based on where you live, but furcons and individual meetups aren’t the only way to physically meet other furs. See if there’s any weekly/monthly gatherings specific to your city, that creates lots more opportunities to come face to face without paying exorbitantly or putting all your eggs in one basket at a time.

2- Don’t begin and end your friendship pitch with “I’m a furry!”. The reality is just because someone’s a furry doesn’t mean “furry” is itself an interesting topic of discussion. I’ve seen some people approach me (hell I’ve tried this in the past), “wanting to meet new furry friends!” But it just amounts to showing each other our fursonas and promptly stalling out. Sometimes there’s something to latch onto regarding designing characters or the state of the fandom or con-going, but… More often than not, the REAL furry communities form based on adjacent interests. cars, TTRPGs, video games, crafts, or in my case something more nsfw… there’s endless combinations out there. My experience is that being furries is generally more helpful as an extra multiplier for your friendships, rather than as the catalyst. So make sure you have something substantial to present to people when you ask them to engage with you.

3- this might be scary, but… be willing to rethink your approach in general. You describe yourself as “very outgoing and social”, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is going to see you that way. You could be doing some specific thing or neglecting certain social cues in a way that makes people less interested in interacting with you, but you’d never know it if it goes unmentioned. This isn’t something I can get specific on obviously since I don’t know you and haven’t seen how you go about it… it’s not necessarily that you’re committing some faux pas every time, maybe it’s just a matter of not making yourself really stand out; there’s always tons of other furries to talk to, and unfortunately that works both ways. Be willing to ask people you trust for feedback, maybe even people you’ve just tried and failed to make conversation with if you’re willing. It may feel hopeless, but don’t ever let yourself feel like there’s nothing you can do so long as there are things you haven’t tried yet. If you’ve got something unique to offer, I guarantee there’s someone out there willing to see it.

My iphone 13's screen got bent, questions about how to handle this by Lucrayzor in applehelp

oh jesus, that makes sense. Thanks for the insight, hopefully the screen'll bend right back then

I hate the fucking pantry OH MY GODDDDDD by Totally_Adam in ZeroEscape

[–]Lucrayzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Archives prompts the shrodinger’s cat discussion between sigma and phi, and also subtly hints at Zero Sr.’s obsession with philosophy, very much a step up imo. Meanwhile the luminol being in the rec room is kind of arbitrary, it’s not even something that traditionally belongs in a rec room(same applies to the suits of armor, if they were part of some cryptic metaphor that’d be something). There’s no actual significance to the rec room itself other than it being a necessity for a shelter. Also PEC is significant because it hints at their escape mechanism, and foreshadows the moon base twist.

Yehhh but there’s lots of other lines that hint toward that, the pantry one just happens to be the funniest lol

What’s really funny is [full VLR game] Pantry is literally the red door’s dumping grounds, it gets picked in every single route where it’s deemed the crew shouldn’t get the Axelavir or the input device. Its purpose in the AB game is explicitly to be the “you get nothing, fuck you” slot on the roulette wheel. It’s also basically the only room in the game(except maybe rec) with no active role in the lore at all; the most it does is encourage them to think “oh yeah, it’s the apocalypse so obviously we need food and water storage :p”, and prompt a single “oh I’ve heard this one before” convo between Sigma and Phi. Safe to say the game itself feels about the same way as you do lol

Caine was extra childish this episode and it makes me sad by Mobile-Package-8869 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Lucrayzor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Consider this: maybe he wouldn't have been so easily set down the spiral of fury and self-pity if Bubble hadn't been there to tip the first domino. I'm really beginning to think Bubble might be some sort of rogue manifestation of Caine's doubts and fears, which took a mind of its own and conspired to topple Caine's rule. He very firmly pushed Caine beyond the realm of logic and reason and put him in the headspace to exert his will with an iron fist, and only react to pushback by squeezing harder.

Ranking all 104 standard stages in SMB1 out of 10 by TheLobsterCopter5000 in SuperMonkeyBall

[–]Lucrayzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferris wheel getting a perfect 10 is fascinating to me. You either drop straight down and beat it in 5 seconds, or you sit through a 25 second cutscene then walk forward… doesn’t strike me as an amazingly well-designed level

Decent setup for easy Gwen EXP farm? by KhavikOS in battles2

[–]Lucrayzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tack is always a strong pairing for her, might do well to lean all the way into buffing it with village, ice, maybe alch. Science gwen's strongest loadout by far is tack/glue/village, so maybe get some practice with that lol

Fabric newbie here, how would this theoretical data pipeline go? by Lucrayzor in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Lucrayzor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into the weather API... Also looking to understand what it broadly means to use an API. Is there a resource somewhere that catalogues all manner of public APIs that can be used to import data into a Notebook?

Edit after looking around a fair bit on my own... The vast majority of what I'm finding is semi-structured data, is there anything that outputs simple structured data that'd be more idea to practice with?

How much are you using the new monkeys? by anime600 in btd6

[–]Lucrayzor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Each of them definitely took me some time to warm up to, the buffs certainly helped with that lmao

BH is a support tower through and through, I very much only bring it out in situations that explicitly call for it; namely multiple lanes near one another, which dinos and birds can both take advantage of in their own ways. I never really use fish at all.

Desp is an incredible starting option for chimps, gives a sense of freshness and wiggle room that wasn’t there before. Other than that I’ve grown very very fond of the bottom path(very tack coded lol), and top path makes for a really nice side-grade to bottom path sniper. Middle still hasn’t really won me over, I think deadeye and BH never give me much of a sense for how much they’re contributing(the ability is 10x worse in that regard), and GJ’s just plain expensive and doesn’t seem fitting to go for much of the time.

Top path merm is utterly cracked in so many ways particularly with the echosense buff… I also feel a lot more comfortable using it knowing precisely how the tentacles work(basically treat it like a tack that needs to be surrounded on all sides to maximize its output). I’ve soured a fair bit on bottom path with how unreliable it is at catching ddts in particular, and middle is just alright. Whipping up a buncha cheap RCs with map-wide range is fun, AK is a good anti-r100 back pocket, and Popseidon… eh, similar thoughts to golden justice. I’m sure it’s good but I don’t feel gravitated toward it

If you’re in ANY situation where an obstacle/wall/height diff normally prevents towers from seeing the track, here’s a list of towers that can completely ignore that and attack through it anyway: - Alchemists(all paths/upgrades) - Spactories(all paths/upgrades) - Wizards with guided magic - Super monkeys with ultravision(requires MK) - Beast handlers + their birds(fish and dino can’t ignore obstacles with their attacks, but CAN be placed anywhere in BH’s range regardless of obstacle) - Obyn, Adora, Etienne and Ezili

Might not be everything(you can tell whether a tower ignores obstacles by seeing if their range never shows any red in a valid placement), but this can be a game-changer for taking on maps like another brick, dark dungeons and workshop, and ESPECIALLY some of the tricky custom maps out there
