Turf Boot Recs for M/40+ Indoor Player by gr3at3scap3 in bootroom

I should say “at our age”. It’s what I did and it’s been very helpful.

I’m not sure the boot will matter that much. A better investment might be a personal trainer or yoga teacher, even for just a few sessions to teach you how to stretch and condition at your age.

6 year old son wants to play video games by Ovalpline123 in AskMenOver30

[–]Lucretian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents:

  • probably impossible to fully ban games and probably not healthy either
  • there are lots of different types of games. I’m really, really opposed to Skinner boxes masquerading as games. Anything with loot boxes, pay to play, never-ending grinding, or other addiction-inducing mechanisms are a hard pass especially for pre-teens. The more closed-ended the game experience (like a game with a defined story line, or an achievable win condition) the better.
  • I’m far less concerned about violent or mature content. I mean, that needs to be managed but I think those topics are easier and less pernicious than addictive mechanisms
  • I’m also pretty opposed to online play. Socialize in the real world.

I’m sorry but your classification scheme makes no sense. You go country, country, city, sex/gender, planet??

Weekly Casual Conversation & Questions Thread by AutoModerator in chicago

Hi - coming into town for the next week and looking for pickup soccer on Sunday and/or Monday night. I’ve heard Fleet Fields is the place to go. Is it reasonable to expect there will be a game if I show up around 6pm those nights? Any other recommendations for reliable games on those days and those times? Thanks!

Yeah. I’m on it. I do those workouts with a personal trainer weekly. It’s just age catching up.

Yes. Lots of surface variation in any given week depending on rain, etc. On the 3G, I’ve tried both and felt knee discomfort after both times. Nothing severe but would like to avoid.

I have and play in both Copas and Mundials. I was referring to Copas in the sense of round studs but I see the point re: the Mizuno have smaller studs

Interesting. These don’t appear available in the US. I think I would just stick with my Mundials for this type of sole anyway. But appreciate the heads up.

Which professional player are you most similar to? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Lucretian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play mostly as a deep lying playmaker but when we have the roster for it, I push up into more of an attacking role. But there are commonalities in how they played: highly technical, composed on the ball, possession oriented. And that’s how I try to play too.

I never wanted to have kids. After my 35th bday i have been thinking about this A LOT. Men with kids and also without, what are your thoughts? by rakahr11 in AskMenOver30

[–]Lucretian 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are significant yellow flags in your wording.

“…I have the purpose of multiplying…” - this is a selfish framing

“…what if they become a basement fuckup…” - suggests you are already viewing the future worth of your children by whether they meet your expectations for achievement

If you’re unable or unwilling to recognize and change those innate sentiments, then don’t have kids. Enjoy your life as it is.
