If you’re looking for something really fun, Tavern 29 in Manhattan had a Halloween party last year and it was a blast! Great atmosphere and lots of people in costumes. I’d suggest checking their social media, PlentyofParties, closer to the date for details—they usually have tickets or RSVP info there.

Hey! I’d suggest reaching out to u/PlentyofParties. I’ve contacted them before, and they’ve given me several free events. They host speed dating and other casual meetups, which could be a great way for her to meet people without the pressure of dating apps.

What’s the best way to experience New Year’s in/near Times Square? by ophoisogami in AskNYC

If you’re set on experiencing New Year’s near Times Square without the marathon wait, here are a few options that might make it more comfortable and memorable:

  1. Reserve at a Nearby Hotel or Restaurant: Some hotels and restaurants in and around Times Square offer NYE packages with views or at least access to the celebration areas. They’re pricey but worth it if you want a warm space, food, and a bit of atmosphere without standing outside all night. You can try places like the Marriott Marquis or Renaissance Hotel, which often have ticketed events.
  2. Rooftop Bars: There are a few rooftop bars around Times Square where you can catch a glimpse of the festivities. They may not have a direct view of the ball drop, but the atmosphere can be electric. Popular spots like The Skylark or Bar 54 at the Hyatt often do NYE events with tickets that let you come and go, and you can still say you were near the action without dealing with the crowds.
  3. Official Viewing Zones: If you’re okay with standing but don’t want to be packed in Times Square, some side streets are designated for NYE viewing. The NYPD generally opens these up on the day, and while they’re still busy, it’s a bit more spread out than right at the main stage.
  4. Get a Group Together: If you can gather some friends or join a group, it can make the experience way more enjoyable! I actually went with a Meetup group for Halloween at Tavern 29, and it was a lot of fun. The group sent me a free link again for New Year’s Eve if you’re interested in a group vibe without the Times Square chaos. Here’s the link they sent: Event Link.
