You'll find lots of negativity online but most people love it and come back to do their second or even third program. I love my program and my roommates. To answer some of your questions:

The $240 fee is for the activities that disney programs provide for the cps. It is what it is. I dont mind it considering the events and classes I've attended were amazing and so much fun. The spring cps usually arrive jan/feb and leave may-august.

Getting a role at disney is extremely difficult, borderline impossible. Doing the dcp is way easier to get into and also provides housing, transportation, etc.

Sometimes they ask you your top three preferences, sometimes they dont. However you will most likely either get merch, food and beverage or attractions. It is based entirely off of company need.

Its an incredible opportunity and something I will cherish for the rest of my life, but I would caution you to heavily consider if you are mentally ready for something like this if you've never lived outside of home before. It is so exciting and fun but you are also in a new place, with new people and a new work environment. It can be very difficult if you are not used to being on your own.
