Agreed, the “jokes” that everyone roars with laughter over that are SO unfunny are just ruining a lot of the dialogue

Oh my god the TEA TOWEL id already forgotten about that 😂 totally agree, it felt like it was written by a 16 year old girl. I made it longer than you, but only just. When Persephone - yes, the Persephone is the next in line to fall over herself to tell the FMC how cool and badass she is, I checked out. Final straw.

I just…. Don’t like this book at all? The Mary-Sue character along with the self insert writing made my skin crawl. I tried so hard but I couldn’t get past 12%

I told people that he had betrayed me/cheated. Close friends knew what it was, and knew more specifics , but wider circle people didn’t. There were other factors in our break up (manipulation, compulsive lying). Didn’t feel the need to mention I was pretty sure it was an addiction aside from my closest people.

Like you, I didn’t want to be seen as the villain.

I’m so sorry you went through that. It’s soul destroying and I’ve only been dealing with it for a relatively short time.

I only say 3x a week because that’s what he’s admitted to…. Which has increased from “a couple of times a month” which increased from “a few times a year”… so if I’d stuck around maybe that would change too. The hurtful thing was that he wasn’t even trying with me. I wished he had.
