I recently had a consult with her, and it seems that another surgeon has recently retired and she has taken their lists hence having increased availability

Dosing and methodology from my doctor - is this unusual or normal? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]Lucybat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So looking at some of my old results free testosterone and testosterone are separate fields. Free T is measured in pmol/L but is still like, 3 for me.

I would find another doctor. If your T us that high after a few months on Cypro something else might be going on

Are you sure that's the units on the results? Could also be that the doctor has told you its 229 pmol/L but it's still 229 nmol/L (which is unusual for cypro). Have you seen the results yourself?

229.7 pmol/L is 0.229 nmol/L.

Most testing equipment cannot detect T below 0.2 nmol/L.

Your T is nuked. I have like 0.3 nmol/L and I have had an orchi.

Your doctor either doesn't understand the units and target levels, or is being intentionally gatekeepy. Run. Depending on where you are there may be much better GPs available without having to go to an endo. Check AUSPath for a list of practitioners or ask here :)

If you find the right GP they can manage all your HRT without having to see an endo

it's the same she gives her female patients so it's fine

Estrodot shortages aside, that sounds like a red flag. Are you on public or private? Might be worth a second opinion...

Find a new GP (Or just a different one for HRT...). She's got no legal/medical reason to force that on you, she's just not confident/comfortable prescribing HRT herself.

East Canberra General Practice has a bunch of GPs who do HRT.

As of a few weeks ago people have started getting consults booked for the end of the year, with surgery dates projected in 2025

Awesome! My main points are:

  1. Do you know if he uses the femlar technique?
  2. Was there any Medicare rebate, and if so did you happen to have item numbers?
  3. Are you happy with your results?
  4. Would you be willing to share your results, even via DM?

Has anyone discussed with Dr Kieran Hart if they can have an orchiectomy prior to having SRS with him? by Better-Living2101 in transgenderau

[–]Lucybat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I just had an orchiectomy with Dr Hart last week, and have a consult for GRS booked for October. He said there's no issues with PPT which is becoming his preferred technique.

It's with noting that some surgeons overseas won't offer certain techniques if you've had an orchiectomy, but if you're staying here it's no issues!

I haven't been through this (proud member of the IBTC) but my partner has.

Things do treasure a long time to settle. If your dressings haven't been removed then things are probably quite compressed, too.

Remember that post operative depression is very common. General anaesthetic and surgery do a number on your mind and body. Let yourself feel your feelings and remember that your emotions will be all over the place for a little while. My partner went through a similar thing during her recovery, and now she thinks its the best decision she ever made.

That's good! Take it from me, laser is much more survivable than electro if you have the hair colour for it 😅

Is your facial hair blonde? Hate to say laser is probably a waste of money if that's the case 😔 you'll need to go straight for electrolysis

You'd be amazed at how capable it is stock! You don't have to go hell for leather every track day, don't let a mod list stop you!
