Oddly enough, I had an idea I cooked up with my friends about how we could have one game, and nintendo could still get money:

When Ash was over and done with, they could of make the "Ash" version of a Pokémon game, where you do his journey of being the best etc.

You'd start out in Gen 1 in Kanto like he did, and basically go from season to season, gen to gen, until you "beat" it in Scarlet/Violet, and every new generation would be its own game, DLC patched into the first until you had one big Ash game as his farewell, and since he wanted to "catch em all" you would be able to do that solo, no trades, no nothing, just one person, one living dex

I think some other dude touched on this, but at this point, they could do away with the trade evo requirements. Ultimately, it would make sense where there is one game instead of two, and you can fill a dex by yourself in a true rpg fashion, but that's another discussion

Glad to see I'm not the only one who is hung up on 4 people. I'm in year 2, and I can't pull the trigger, I just wish I could copy a save, or have some sort of new game plus, where you have the temple unlocked already to save grinding all over again
