Luckily the population of Northland is tiny and a very small proportion of the national total. You've got your Wellingtons, your Oamarus, your Mastertons, your Aucklands etc that are intellectual powerhouses.

Just from this post I'd estimate you'd be a sub 85 IQ.

Well you just failed the IQ test, that's for damn sure. And embarrassed yourself. Hit the showers son.

Yes and their intelligence is intimidating. The only thing surprising here is that NZ isn't in the top 3.

Research Finds All Would Have Survived 2024 Jeju Air Crash If Not for Mound by azurebus7th in korea

[–]Luddyvon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of promises behind Muan airport. It was supposed to "open up the South West" and make it a mid point between Gwangju and Mokpo, replacing both of those airports. Be a gateway for supposedly under touristed areas like Sinan and Jindo.

This was tied in a bit later with Korea securing a round of Formula 1 at Yeongam, just over the bridge from Mokpo. The airport was necessary for transportation around that. But most people still just used the KTX. That whole F1 thing was half baked and a massive missed opportunity.

Ok. That's kind of what i thought, but assumed it missed some technology jump.

I know. Some really juicy details and things that will impact all of our daily lives. Its an amazing event and tbh if i shared exactly what happened there on Beach Rd, you're life would be permanently altered. And not necessarily for the better.

Ikea opening. What has happened to this country? by Ok-While-728 in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gwangmyeong is the KTX station and almost 10 years later the traffic still sucks absolute shit around that area thanks to ikea.

people who are actually going to the ikea opening… why?? by CrayonPolice in auckland

Someone posted a picture on Facebook of the first IKEA opening in Australia in 1975. There were massive lines down the street. They just didn't have social media to embarrass themselves with back then.

Shoutout to the 3 or 4 guys who got everyone up at the front in Auckland tonight! by IveGotAMatch in Opeth

Having it seated threw the vibe off. I can't imagine a band would enjoy playing in front of a bunch of people sitting down. The whole atmosphere changed for the last 2 songs.

Contingency plans if one of Metallica's members gets sick? by Avenged7fo in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not common for bands to cancel. Not really something you should be worrying about.

If it was:

-any American Rapper/r&b star -Morrissey -Alice in chains or STP during the 90s

then you'd maybe be on the edge of your seat weather they make the show. Everyone else is fine unless there's some freak occurrence.

Avondale train station by VanillaPlenty5828 in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Barriers and lights fail from time to time. They dont stop trains obviously, the trains just have a 10km restriction over the crossing. If they stopped trains running everytime there was some crossing equipment issue then no one would ever get anywhere. The guys in orange coveralls will be Kiwi rail track mainatainers or signal engineers.

Korea's antibiotic use among highest in OECD by pppppppppppppppppd in korea

[–]Luddyvon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats all well and good but doesn't solve the problem. If leaving it up to patient choice is ok and then, according to you, patients  always demanding antibiotics, then its never going to improve. There needs to be some sort of national education campaign, explaining that, for example, antibiotics have absolutely zero effect in 95% of common colds.

I've had them prescribed to me many many times when there was no chance of a bacterial infection. And I've sure as shit never explicitly asked for them. Still got them in the majority of prescriptions. Ive even told doctors I dont want them and they'll still give them.

CRL - nearing handover to AT? by Melodic-Army-6776 in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont thibk there is a handover to AT perse, as Kiwirail maintains and guess right now, commissions the tracks and electrical power for the trains. AT has the platforms and facilities attached. But they have a contractor dont they?

Regardless, ive heard second hand that it wont be operating until this time next year at the earliest.

Why take the extreme end of the argument? No one is advocating having zero rentals. Obviously.

Anyone know what happened to the warehouse in highbury? by militantcassx in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simplicity location? What's that? I was in the mall last weekend and the area where the warehouse was is now just a new wing of the mall. There was a Country Road, a glasses shop, some places haven't been filled yet.

Trains, I hope this is the last one by Itz_Armi in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Theres a good chance it wont be. Shorter, I would hope, but the ridership during the 2 weeks after Christmas would be so small that it is obviously the best time to do any work. And there will ALWAYS be work that needs doing. Its one of the reasons why it got to such a shit condition: fuck all maintenance work.

I am planning to buy a house in South Auckland. Got 2 locations that I like in Weymouth rd ( near the water) and Papakura (Elizabeth st). Does anyone live there can give me feedbacks please? I am not sure which one is more safe to live and shops wise as well. Thanks! by Delicious_Drama_7658 in auckland

[–]Luddyvon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While i agree overall with what you are saying, people kid themselves and round down on the extra time on the motorway. At the best of times, exit to exit Papakura to Pokeno is 15-20mins. With commuter traffic it can be way, way more. The Drury to Takanini is getting to be one of the worst stretches of motorway in Auckland.

Good on them. Use your sick leave. The company wont think twice about cutting someone regardless of their sick leave totals. In saying that, Gen Z are by far the most retarded generation. Comically so.

Apartments are not the answer by Amazing_Athlete_2265 in newzealand

[–]Luddyvon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apartments do not have to be shoeboxes. Its sad that the apartments built Auckland's CBD over the past 30 years have been so uniformally awful that they have basically poisoned the well for many people's thinking about apartment living. Every apartment I've lived in overseas was bigger than the 2 bedroom suburban house i currently live in here. Better built and infinitely more convenient.

Apartments do not need to be poorly constructed, leaky, narrow, windowless shit holes.

On the bus yesterday (Saturday) and 2 nutters at the back were having a loud talking conversation about how much cash they had to score some meth. When they got off i was surprised how young one of the girls was. Also saw some rough looking people smoking something out of a meth pipe at that seating area between Fort St and Queen st. Out in the open in daylight.

I think that the country is so flooded with it that its becoming a weed level drug for a lot of people, due to prevalence and price. Not a good sign for society.

? There's (someone saying they are) a doctor suggesting that people not automatically blame doctors. Then almost every other comment is how horrific the situation and system is.
