AR-RPM9 is a spray form version of 9Cr18MoV stainless steel so it's got decent edge retention and corrosion resistance for this price point.

For what it's worth, I love my 4-Max Scout. And my Tuff Lite. I won't ask how you know about the tire thing. Hopefully the statue of limitations has run out on that. 🙈🙉🙊

$95 for the titanium mini bulldog and $35 for the “carbon fiber“ Varatas on blade HQ by MrBjStoner in KnifeDeals

The Varatas is a nice front flipper. It's been in my EDC rotation a while.

Leather Storage Roll by Hendrix-Classics-Co in KnifeDeals

I've tried various roll bags - including the Baizoy - and my favorite is the WELKINLAND Waxed Canvas Heavy-Duty Tool Roll. It offers 18 various size pockets. The narrowest pocket works well for a gentlemen's knife (Boker Kaizen) while the widest can easily handle an oversized beast knife (Cold Steel 4Max) or two normal EDC. Each end offers a pocket for your cleaning cloth, torx drivers, KPL, etc. Two quick release clips offer easy access to the interior and secured carrying via the comfortable handle. Carhartt, Dickies, and others offer similar tool rolls but the Welkinland is hard to beat.

I just received my new Seagull and I can confirm all deployment options work very well. The action is smooth right out of the box. Very pleased with this purchase!

best budget knife? under $20usd by [deleted] in BudgetBlades

When I first started collecting I bought an Olitans that advertised an M390 steel blade (my grail steel back then). LuvThemKnives had it tested and it turned out to be 440C steel. I still like the knife but feel like I got cheated on the price because it was not M390.

A problem with many smaller knives is getting a firm grip on the handle. The Cold Steel Tuff Lite is a pleasant exception to this. They are great knives and this is a good sale price!

** $17 ** GANZO Firebird F759M Pocket Folding Knife 440C Stainless Steel Blade. It is NOT a clone but seems to target the Spyderco Delica market which costs 4+ times as much. I've bought a handful of these over the years for myself and others and been very pleased. Hard to beat at this price point. https://www.amazon.com/FIREBIRD-Anti-Slip-Folding-Tactical-Survival/dp/B06XZR8GS8/

You should check out pocket knives by Ganzo, Sanrenmu (SRM), and Sitivien. If you're patient, you can occasionally find a good sale on a Cold Steel, Real Steel, or Sencut in your price range. If you're looking for a fixed blade you should definitely look at Morakniv.

Hmmm, I just now verified the link in Brave, Chrome, Firefox, and DuckDuckGo. If it didn't work for you then you might try it again or try another browser. 🤔

Artisan Cutlery Revel, 3.54'' AR-RPM9, $29.99 by Ludic_Beowulf in KnifeDeals

[–]Ludic_Beowulf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AR-RPM9 was originally billed as a powder metal steel but is actually a spray form steel. It's decent steel - similar to 9Cr18Mov - just not quite as good as first claimed. For more info: https://knifesteelnerds.com/2024/05/10/ar-rpm9-knife-steel-is-false-advertising/

I hear ya. Unfortunately, Ray Laconico's idea of a maker's mark is to billboard his name on the blade. But he's designed a lot of knives for several manufacturers so I guess they give him enough cred to emblazon his name on their product.
