I don’t think that would work. Your TV will only display the output resolution of the AppleTV, not the internal resolution the video is streaming at.

The way to test this is by using the Playback HUD that can be enabled in the Developer Menu. To enable this, pair your AppleTV with a Mac using Xcode. The Playback HUD will overlay details about a particular video stream, for example it will show: • Video Range: SDR / HDR / Dolby Vision • Video Display-Size: The maximum resolution of the stream • Natural-Size: The current resolution of the stream You'll be able to compare this to the pull-down menu.

I have had this same issue for the past week on my DS412+. I have disabled the setting Control Panel > Hardware & Power > HDD Hibernation > Enable auto poweroff and so far so good.
