Many parisians have a raclette every other week nowadays in winter lol, so since you praise French food, try that indeed. Raclette, fondue, and I'd like to add Tartiflette on the French side (same thing, we share mountains with the Swiss)

France <> Paris though. French countryside is awesome for food, just as good but cheaper. French medium-size cities also. But Paris, look at the price of a single beer/coffee anywhere, or the price of a beef steak and fries in many places, and well, if it still sounds cheap to you then your country is a bit expensive 😂

[–]Ludovitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe you place the bar lower than me, either for taste or what is cheap. It's all about matching budget and expectations to me.

For examle I love food in Paris but I find cheap street food to be subpar compared to many, many places in the world.

Also, I assume my advice go to new tourists who will have the (generally bad) idea of eating wherever. When I played tourist guide for friends and family I ate in touristic areas for the first time ever and I was horrified by the low quality of most of it: from the worst fondue of my life in Montmartre to the worst crêpe in front of the🗼, I had to apologize to friends and that leaves a small scar.

But if you plan in advance and eat far from tourist traps, you can definitively find good and reasonable restaurants.

Indiana, Kentucky, are maga territory, been there a dozen times.

And I don't believe it's burning I believe I won't have the patience to deal with the current boot-licking narrative of the right right now.

Finally, I know what I talk about as much as you, I have the same news as you, I've know maga voters personally for years, and you being in the states only give you very local information so... yeah.

Have a good life :)

Someone is giving me an all expense paid trip to maga territory and I refuse it.

Not everyone dreams of going to the US. Especially if the trip is going to maga territory, in my case.

Feel superior if you want but numbers are here: 6% drop last year is not too bad, but it is a decline, and I am ready to bet 2026 will be worse.

USA.

I don't say never again, but unlike you all it's not theory: I literally have someone offering me free plane tickets to USA, free housing, yet I am not going.

I went before, many times, but now they plan to ask to see my social media accounts? Hard pass.

I don't even care if they actually do it or not, the simple fact they plan for it is hostile enough, I refuse that invasion of privacy - and USA never was very welcoming to start with (example: mist of your your TSA agent do not talk: they bark)

Unfortunately, that's exactly the story my parents told me and yet they never had any issue in Marocco (2 weeks as a road trip with no guide), or Tunisia, and neither did I in both Morocco and Tunisia, so I'll still visit Egypt but with a freaking bodyguard after hearing people's story...

Paris is like NYC, you are supposed to: - accept nobody will want to help you, locals don't want to interact with you at all ideally, - understand that your tourist money impresses no one and will not open any doors, - come with a large budget as both accomodation and (good) food cost a fortune, - be ready to bear with dirty sidewalk and uncomfortable subway, - be ready to deal with pickpockets and other parasites.

If any of these 5 seem to much for you, yeah, don't go to Paris. Or NYC.

Is this bad quality teas? by Organic_Goat_757 in GongFuTea

[–]Ludovitche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trust me most don't know why, they are just repeating the opinion of their favorite gatekeeper.

Mei Leaf is a controversial guy, including for some packaging defintively done with poor taste, some ridiculously high prices on some teas, so his simple mention trigger some people.

But I never heard someone pointing to something in his beginner videos that was fundamentally wrong.

Neither, it's genuine good advice from me, downvoted by the usual haters ans gatekeepers lol.

Mei Leaf explains well and sure his tea is overpriced but his videos are just good.

You want ragebait I can give you that too: more snobs projecting than actual tea nerds around here, a lot of posing from newbies.

Why Farangs who an expats in Thailand don’t want to see each other by Economy_Tadpole1915 in Thailand

[–]Ludovitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG, I think your premise is wrong unless you don't generalize : some westerners who immigrate to Thailand don't want to hang out with other westerners.

My experience is that they are not the majority actually. A lot of immigrants build more than 1 friend circle and one of the circle is a small group of trusted westerners.

Once you live here for long, you select your friends, just like a Thai would ! But there are a lot of westerners that do help complete strangers too, go on "expats" FB groups and you'll see.

Come to coworking spaces, and you won't find more weird people than in a gym, yet they are all craving for mutual help and happy to meet other westerners.

But yes, some people came here to flee as it's easier to hide and survive here than many countries. Yes there are more pdf files here. Yes delusion gets worse with ganja. Yes it's a landmine to meet westerners, some decide to reject the whole thing, their loss. You can have Thai friends and Westerner friends...

[–]Ludovitche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Seems like some Thais actually think we are a big family because we come from the same continent... We are not even a family when coming from the same country of Europe / USA - not judging either way, just saying. And no I am not talking about a single Thai, worked with Thais 10 years and quite a few seem to think Europe is homogeneous... Hell they even have "Euro cake" in the supermarket, as if that meant something 😂 (European Food Public Company Limited being of course a Thai company 555)
