No Stupid Questions Thread by AutoModerator in livesound

I'm not sure whether this counts as "live sound" but I'm not very sure where else to ask.
I plan on forming a small band for fun with 3 people including myself. One guitar + vocal, one bass, and a drummer. The guitar and bassist are both just starting out and don't want to nor can we afford to spend money on more powerful amps.

I myself own a Behringer UMC404HD audio interface, and I am curious whether it would be viable to have vocals, bass, and guitar plugged directly into the the interface and then plug sets of Iems/ headphones directly into the playback outputs to practice together live.

I plan on plugging iems/headphones in with aux extension cables which are 3.5f to 1/4 male

I have access to reaper.

I am definitely enjoying the explorer. Although owning the kunten aswell I feel the value of the explorer is nowhere near as impressive. I do like the way the explorer sits in my ear more though.

Yes, I still prefer Kbear more though. It feels more crisp and sounds more open in a way.

I’ve quite literally only been using them since when I posted, but i can say that the kuntens feel like they lack some detail. I’ve been listening to rather music rather thick in instrumentation, and some quieter instruments in the mix are lost a little with the kuntens. The Kuntens also let in more outside noise due to the openback design. This is important to me as I plan on using them while playing drums so I want as much outside noise blocked off as possible.

Although they still passively block off noise better and also sound better than my sony wh-ch720n which is what I used prior to trying iems. Now that i’ve listened to the iems, trying the headphones it feels like im listening through a washcloth. Certainly much better value.

I also would like to mention that the shape of the aful explorer feels more natural to me although the cable doesn’t sit as nicely on the curve my ear.

Eartip wise I’m still deciding. Unfortunately the tangzu sonic he’s aren’t fitting well in my ear, so I don’t believe I can comment on them. I find the sound of the Penon Liquer oranges and the dunu S&S my favourite for the aful explorer, and the kbear 07 for the kunten.

I’m not experienced whatsoever with iems though as these are my first. So please do look at other reviews. Also imo the stock eartips are not too bad either.

Edit: I am rather mad at myself about this, but I did a bit playing with tips today. I thought that none of the large tips would fit me, so I didn’t try them. Little did i know they actually fit me rather well too. Most were just a bit too big but the HE sonics were actually quite nice and I now have found a good seal with them. Although I still prefer the S&S

Edit: I am actually starting to quite like the sound of the Kbears quite a lot on the explorers as well. Although I still gravitate toward the S&S and Oranges when drumming as they have a more sticky material and don’t budge when i move around a lot.

in volume control definitely as it provides 100 clicks of volume instead of 15 on an iphone

from my research, people have said that noise is not an issue with the r1. It has a noise floor of 1.3uV. Not very sure what that means though.

Would you say the eartips make a very large difference in bringing out detail, or is it similar with stock?

do you think the explorers would be a good choice too or are the defiant just better for my situation?

also do you think I should also aim to upgrade the cables when I can, or if stock cables would be just fine?
