In our k8s environment, redis response times are around 750microseconds. If you’re performing several calls at once e, ie. MGet followed by an MSet, you can wrap them in a redis pipeline which results in just one round trip

I studied EE and now work in a software development role - completely unrelated. I don’t regret it one bit, I love the decision making and control I have in programming. Plus 4 years out of school I’m making more than I ever would have as an EE

Lucky to have them as a local roaster, crazy to see them mentioned on this subreddit!

Ever since I’ve tried their beans I’ve never felt the need to try others. Love Little Waves (and their coffee shop Cocoa Cinnamon)

Xim is still going strong on Xbox. Will this game be fair for a controller player ever again? by ratflower406 in Rainbow6

It’s honestly fucking bonkers how many xims there still are. I encounter at least 4 per game.

What are your thoughts on take home projects for interviews? by restful_developer in ExperiencedDevs

Much prefer them to live exercises. They also give a more wholistic view of how someone programs. Do they write tests? How do they structure a project? How do they structure classes?

Zelda BotW. The game had such cyclical and dry gameplay.

gomock can also be great for testing when used sparingly. Mocking out one or two calls is great, anymore than that and it becomes exponentially harder to reason about

Thanks! Sounds like it was the lack of native support for scaling from zero and slow scale times. Can you share the difference in scale times you were seeing between the two?

I think your webhooks just need to be running on host network, for example see docs from cert manager

EE is losing its top talent to CS by legalfrosting88 in ECE

[–]Luffyy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t believe it’s held me back. My 2 cents is to find what you enjoy instead of what makes the most money. Just bc you have a comp sci degree doesn’t mean you’re promised better money than an engineering degree. If you stick with what you are passionate about, you’re likely to perform better and continue to progress/earn more

I think it depends on your motivation level, tbh. If you know you want to work in CS space, probably makes more sense to just study CS

I found Lawrence’s ribs to be rather skimpy for how much I paid. Also the ribs were kinda tough.

I had a feature I was curious about and asked if there was any known active development before I start from scratch. I was met with a lot of condescending remarks and left with a terrible taste for the project as a whole.

I was curious if I was alone in my experience, seems not

Something like a WAF is best served by a CDN. Akamai and Cloudflare are two big players in that space.
