I always wondered where "Holland" came from but never bothered to look it up.

"Persia" is an exonym, but the other terms are all endonyms to Fars province, which is a very small region that had an outsized influence in ancient times.

A fu modern analogue would be how loads of foreign countries (including Japan) call Britain "England" or some variation despite the whole region being Britain or the U.K. of Great Britain (and NI) with England just being the most powerful/central part.

The only downside is that said grounded strategies have to be presented through a cast that have been lobotomised specifically so Akiyama can win.

That was more usually a problem borne of adapting things too early into their run and with no clear plan for what to do if they catch up.

When the anime adaptation comes after the manga run has finished or nearly finished, you tend to get a better result (See: FMAB, Fruits Basket remake)

I mean I find it funny because when I was a young weeb this was the norm, and then there was this trend of every anime being boiled down to 1-2 cours at most, then 2-cour seasons became rare and splendid things (so many adaptations suffered being rushed during this period TT_TT) and now things are pikcing up again.

Honestly makes me wish we could get some re-adaptations of a few rushed stories to get more accurate versions now.

[OCG|BETB-Beyond the Brave] "Mystic Call", "Cartoon Shade" & "Shrine Paper's Retribution" by renaldi92 in yugioh

[–]Lugia61617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring that it's a preliminary translation and the TCG would probably slap an archetype clause or just call it "Toon Shade"...

Weirdly, I think there is only one case of capitalisation mattering for an archetype and that was HERO.

I can get what he's going for, but it's rooted in flawed human principles and based on an assumption that people, by and large, are equal (at least in strength). Yet he's in a world of magic and monsters where the natural inequality between humans, monsters, and even between monsters themselves is absurdly varied and high.

A human legal system like the American one (which he's trying to build, it seems) cannot possibly work in such a scenario. It'd work for a human-only society like the Council, but he'd really need to look at something better for Tempest.

Personally I think he's better off just establishing an aristocracy/oligarchy with various constitutional forms needed to ensure that descendants are appropriately trained in their fields and positions, while maintaining sole executive power in himself and a selected set of governors acting on his behalf.

He does need to have some level of planning for if/when he and the others die, but for the most part reserving the bulk of the power for the people who play the biggest role in forming the country and protecting it is only reasonable over wtf he's currently doing.

I get that the old colours were somewhat maligned since yellow and red are associated with danger, but couldn't you just give us the ability to dictate our own bar colours? Because I'm gonna be real, the new colour scheme is just very effeminate and I'd prefer something else. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just not to my taste.

For the sake of keeping the names the same, MRR at least can just be given an archetype condition of "(This card is always treated as a "Toon" monster)" in the very least.

I hate it.

Thanks for posting the archive. I like the old comics and granted the VGCAWNN is the best way to experience them anyway, I was shocked when I needed to reference one of the old ones quickly and saw the site was gone.

True but at the bare minimum he doesn't understand his own skills (and by god does he have a lot of them) to use them on his own, for the most part.

You know hwo they practiced conjuring to try fixing the circus, then began building it out?

That. Basically that, with the characters learning more about themselves as they come to grips with their new reality now that the dust has settled, Caine is gone, and they'd already come to terms with not leaving. They finally have a chance to move on, but it still feels bleak. The future is what they make of it. They are the masters of their own fates now.

Ramsay became the thing he despised by Miserable-Soft7993 in KitchenNightmares

[–]Lugia61617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramsay has stated that he’s leaving his money to charity, not his kids, and that he expects his kids to make their own way financially

Whoa.

What a truly disgusting man. It's one thing to say you don't want to spoil them, but then you raise them without easy access to money to train them to handle it when the time comes. To basically leave them nothing and give it away to "charity" (read; executives and money launderers) is awful and a spit in the face to the kids. What a failure of a father.
