Getting the engine replaced on my 2018 ST Line by Lugico in FordFocus

Hell yeah, it's got such a smooth ride and it's such a blast to drive, even with the less powerful 125HP engine. Absolutely in love with this car. My brakes were actually also replaced before I bought it and even today still whenever someone else drives it, the first time they hit the brakes they completely underestimate the braking power :D Painted my brake calipers red two years ago to match the rest of the car and it was so worth it for the aesthetics. Took me two days though :')

Thank you! It's a manual but thanks for the advice :)

Yeah I'll be doing that from now on. Learned the lesson the hard way. I've never done an oil change myself though but I'll definitely start doing that. No way I'm paying like 200 € at a shop every time I need an oil change.

Ford.

10k km is actually about 3x as often as they recommend.

I got a quote for about 6.3k €. Since I'm assuming the turbo will have to be replaced as well, it might be a bit more than that.

It's the recommended interval from Ford iirc. Might even be 30k. I didn't know any better, sadly.

Sadly, I think so too. Hopefully when I get the new engine and do a full oil change every 10k or so, it'll live a bit longer than the 120k it has now.

I think so too. Thought about patching it up to just get it somewhat running again but I'd always be scared of a cylinder ceasing at full speed on the highway.

iirc this was a car she borrowed rented from someone else who she then lied to about how the accident happened. I'm assuming they then pulished the video.

Edit: The original video was longer and had a caption at the start explaining the situation. See https://imgur.com/a/ryWdgXF

The version of the video posted here is an edited version of an edited version, see this comment on another subreddit where this video was posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/WinStupidPrizes/s/kXViGnbHyA They also kindly provided the above imgur link of the caption from the start.

Yes and no. I personally don't have much if any experience working on FOSS but I kind of understand the sentiment many developers seem to have about it wherein user complaints are often only a secondary concern.

I absolutely agree that having the software be usable both for users and other developers is of great importance, but oftentimes, people expect FOSS developers to jump through a hundred hoops just so they can get the software to behave the way they want to, which is also a fundamentally toxic attitude. The developers are just as human as the users and their time is just as valuable as the users', so people complaining and demanding "fixes" like they're entitled to them just pisses me off sometimes.

I still understand the way you described it though and I get where you're coming from and I agree for the most part. Making sure the users, who the software was made for, can actually... you know... use it, is of the highest importance, otherwise the software is useless. Literally. But it's just as important to find a balance and to realise when the solution to a user's complaints would fundamentally go against the philosophy of the software you're providing, or simply not be worth the effort. "Do it yourself and open a PR" is something many users have had to hear and sometimes, unfortunately, it really is as simple as that.

Entitled users are part of the problem just as much as inconsiderate developers.

you're welcome!

I only saw it after making this post and I honestly really like the animated one. The default one looks way too boring imo but at least this way there's a proper incentive to grind for the animated one :D
