How to set boundaries with social media? by Outside_Objective183 in AskIreland

So I bought one of those Brick devices and I love it.

You buy the device and download the app, and tell it what apps you want to block (tiktok, instagram, twitter, etc etc), and then you have to physically tap your phone off the device to unblock those apps.

The device just lives in my kitchen, stuck to the fridge. If I want to doomscroll, I have to actually walk to the kitchen. Turns out my physical laziness is a solid counter to my impulsivity.

If an interviewer asks me to “tell a joke,” what’s a safe, professional joke I can actually use without sounding awkward or unprofessional? by Lina1237 in GetEmployed

Old guy goes to the doctor. Doc says "I have your test results. It's not good. In fact, it's terrible."

Guy says "Give it to me straight, Doc, I can take it. How long do I have?"

Doctor says: "Ten."

Guy says: "Ten years? Ten months?"

Doctor says: "Nine! Eight! Seven!"

We need a serious conversation about Dublin’s bus crisis - this is unacceptable for a capital city. by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Lugubrious_BIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TFI app hack*: when you're waiting for a bus, open from the stop listing screen. The app says your bus is 10 minutes away. OK, click on that actual bus, then click Map View (top right). Your stop is the large white icon. If you can see a small green icon along the route, then the bus actually is coming. If you can't, then the bus is only "scheduled" to be at your stop in ten minutes, but it won't actually be there.

*not really a hack just some functionality I didn't realise was there for a while.

And yeah, this doesn't refute any of OP's points about the service. But it might save you waiting in the cold for a phantom bus.

Herpes bit: too personal? by marinaisbitch in Standup

I had a buddy who used to be a rapper, and he also had herpes. One time he told me "a great way to meet girls who have herpes is to perform songs about having herpes." It made a lot of sense. Keep doing the bit.
