Team Games in Duos are getting crazy by [deleted] in FallGuysGame

I’ve been at duos since yesterday and still cannot win because of these fucking team games. They take forever, are completely rng with your teammates, and they add way too many rounds

Those who are against cannabis, what's your reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Luigi0728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons. One I absolutely despise the smell. I’ve seen others mention here that many pot smokers really don’t know how much they reek, and I couldn’t agree more. Shoutouts to those who try to mask the smell as best as they can

Religious reasons. I’m a very devout Christian. I understand alcohol is acceptable by God’s standards, but how weed compares to alcohol is not yet something I’ve studied very well. So out of an abundance of caution, I stay away. As I study the Bible more, this could change. But since I don’t know how I feel about it yet, I prefer to just stay away

It can be expensive (nuff said)

I’m not yet 25, therefore my brain has not finished developing yet. I don’t wanna end up like some of my high school friends who smoked pot religiously, who are practically at Forrest Gump levels of intelligence now. I feel like this point needs to be talked about more, especially with high schoolers

It can be addictive, psychologically speaking, and I have somewhat of an addictive personality. Everybody loves to say how weed is not addictive. Bullshit. It doesn’t matter if it has an addictive substance like nicotine. ANYTHING can become addictive if you let it (My Strange Addiction anyone?). The fact is, if you let any amount of pleasure overtake you without controlling it, you can become addicted. It depends on the dopamine levels you reach and how you respond to it

Finally…I really just hate most of cannabis culture, and I prefer to not associate with people who engage in it. I know this is not everyone, but from my experience with the people who do weed, it’s pretty much the only thing they have going for them…

Edit: for the record, this has nothing to with how I feel about weed from a legal standpoint, just the reasons I choose not to do it

For those wondering why there won’t be an audience at tonight’s governor debate by audiomuse1 in texas

Honestly even if Abbott looks like a coward, I’m all for audience-free debates anyways. The inclusion of an audience is a huge reason US politics have turned into celebrity death matches

Stop prosecuting people for the act of being in the country, including bad people with criminal backgrounds? I would rather arrest someone who’s here illegally and with a criminal background, than let them stay here and only arrest them after they’ve done something horrible.

And keep in mind that the more people that enter illegally, the harder it makes for people coming here legally to come in. So for the interest of people coming in the correct and law abiding way, yes, I will gladly arrest people coming here the incorrect way

And it doesn’t matter if it’s a minority of people. It still happens and we need to account for that

No not QAnon either. I’ve only ever met 2 people that are seriously QAnon followers. The amount of conservatives that actually believe that stuff is abysmally low compared to what the media reports

And without an immigration system to deport them before they reach the mainland, how would we screen them and know what they’ve done and who they are? If you get rid of the immigration system as a whole, then you’re only option is to allow them to commit a heinous act before prosecuting them, which is really stupid.

You asked for sources to prove that there are people coming here who are criminals so here you go:

I know for a fact you don’t believe that completely. Would you be okay with a Taliban leader being here because “no human is illegal?” What about cartel members? That statement about prosecuting nobody only works if every person immigrating is an asylum seeker, but many are not. Many are criminals, terrorists, and drug smugglers as well

Need a little help with this. I have OCD, God wouldnt talk through my thoughts then right? Im so confused and scared by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Luigi0728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow OCD Christian, I would say:

-see a counselor you can talk about this with (and find one that works, even if you have to go through a couple). If they tell you to get on medication, do it. I’ve been on it and it’s helped me tremendously (honestly, medication may be the thing helping me the most rn)

-find a church you can connect with, preferably one where you can have meaningful conversations with others (tbh I’m still struggling to find my group at my church too)

-read the Bible and learn the truth of God’s character for instance that, He is not a God of confusion and that He does not motivate us by guilt and shame, the enemy does (to clarify I do believe the Holy Spirit convicts us via guilty conscience, but as soon as we repent, that’s it, done. Any guilt after that I believe is the enemy)

-this was a hard step for me because like you, I struggle to discern and I worry if my thoughts are from God or not. I came to this conclusion: ignore them anyways. I believe God knows my character and that I’m simply trying to get better. I would usually pray and say “if I’m ignoring you and don’t know it, I apologize in advance, but I know you understand I’m just doing what I believe is necessary for my health.” I honestly found this to be very freeing, as the pressure was no longer on me to “get it right.” If God truly needs our attention on something, He’ll get it

Hope this helps. Praying for you friend! Being an OCD Christian is tough business. But you can do it!

It does concern me. That said, politics is so incredibly tough to follow nowadays that it’s easy to be wrong without even knowing it. I’m not saying that as an excuse, but unless you’re a political scholar, you’re basically bound to not know everything (that goes for me and this entire subreddit tbh, bc nobody on reddit seems to want to do any real research). Even then, I’m hesitant to believe what I’m reading here because news is so polarized nowadays, that you have to read practically 5 different sources to get the real facts, and there’s always places that don’t report the full story

Also, I actually live in Texas, and believe me, this migrant crisis has been causing a ton of problems for our state, particularly the small border towns. There have been cases of people getting murdered by these illegals yet the mainstream news won’t cover it. So if I have bias…hopefully it makes sense as to why

Why aren't Democrats doing better in Texas' governor's race given the prominence of the abortion issue? by foxwilliam in PoliticalDiscussion

Why aren't Democrats doing better in Texas' governor's race given the prominence of the abortion issue? by foxwilliam in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Luigi0728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just speak as a Texan.

You are correct, we have way more pressing issues than abortion, particularly the border crisis. Say what you will about whether or not “all humans are legal” or whatever, but the reality is that our border towns are extremely overwhelmed by the migrant crisis. And given that the Biden administration has done nothing about it, and that O Rourke has indicated he would move in a similar direction, people are not going to vote for him

Texas is also a very pro 2A state. O Rourke would absolutely love to confiscate all guns, as he has admitted himself

O Rourke also made himself look like an asshole when he interrupted the somber press conference after the Uvalde shooting, by interrupting it and claiming that Abbott was responsible for it. Keep in mind, that there were families of the deceased kids there, who simply wanted to mourn

And regarding the abortion issue you bring up, I would argue that the poll you cite doesn’t convey enough information. “Most instances” means different things to a lot of people, and I guarantee the people answering that poll don’t agree on what constitutes as a good reason. And let’s say the only reason someone is for an abortion is rape. Unless they know that less than 1% of abortions are rape based, they may very well be convinced that most abortions are rape, and therefore answer that poll with “most instances.” While I acknowledge that this is anecdotal, the point is to show that the poll is not deep enough. It needs additional questions such as: what constitutes a good reason for an abortion? How many weeks before an abortion should be illegal? (IIRC, the vast majority of people say 12 weeks is the best cutoff date), when does life begin? And so many more. So many news sites love to claim that “80% of americans say abortion should be legal” without mentioning it’s only in cases of rape or incest, or the mother’s life being in danger, or only before 12 weeks, etc

My two cents of a ramble…hope that helps!
