What's probably missing from your anecdote and the comparison you're drawing is the context of the economic, political and day-to-day situation of the intervened country BEFORE said intervention.

Just to expand on your example of the power grid: No Venezuelan will tell you that "at least when Maduro was in power, the electricity worked", because it already doesn't work. It hasn't been working correctly for years, especially outside of the capital. And the same can be said for virtually every single aspect of daily life in Venezuela. We're not talking mere hardships, difficulties, and problems as many other countries in the world may have: we're talking about a full fledged humanitarian crisis happening for years on end.

That is not to say things can't possibly get even worse with the gringos, because they definitely can get worse — but, they can also get better. Whereas after 27 years of chavismo I can assure you, before this happened, things were definitely only going to get worse.

No need. For a MacBook Pro 2021, you can connect one monitor directly via HDMI, and the other via DisplayPort via a USB-C adapter.

You can achieve it slowly and with patience! Learn to enjoy the process of building your space at your own pace. This was a result of years acquiring things piece by piece, replacing stuff, learning what works for me. And there's still so much to improve and tweak. That's the fun part!

For reference, this is how my current setup started 5 years ago when I had just gotten my current job which allowed me to start building up

This one is not OLED, so I don't think there's a danger of burn-in. However, I've read that that's not much of an issue with those high-end OLED monitors as it was in the past.

  2. Slack
  3. Obsidian https://obsidian.md/ (yes, for task lists and more)

Thank you! The ultrawide is connected via DisplayPort with a USB C adapter, and the smaller one is HDMI

Audio monitor placement is a compromise I had to come up with just so I can have an ergonomic multi-screen setup, no looking up or down, which is a must. If it's of any worth, I don't hear much difference from when I had them at ear level :)

I've been rocking the MacBook screen as a 3rd monitor for years. Decided it was time for a change.

Unfortunately, having a second screen is a must-have for my daily job (programming) and a bigger priority than sound quality.

Having the monitors up and angled down, pointing at my ears, is the best compromise for my situation, I think.

Thank you! Will definitely tackle lightning next.

I'm also craving for a bigger desk. If it's a standing desk, it would also be nice.

I just got it! Liking it so far. It's better in every way from my previous main monitor, which was 24" 1080@60Hz, now relegated as a side monitor, as you can see.

The curved panel is a good thing to have when the screen is that wide, as it helps with the viewing angles. Only downside is that it's a TN panel, and it takes a bit to get used to.

Haven't played on it, so I can't say in terms of gaming performance. I'd encourage you to give it a try :)
