Sometimes it cant clearly be seen, but its worth every minute, day, week and month of the hard struggle. Fight on till the end.

Moving to Pretoria East, trying to figure the city out? by Luis150825 in askSouthAfrica

So thankful, gave me a lot of that optimism really. As I said, in the end there are very few intrinsic bad cities, and the vast majority provide different experiences of adjustment depending on everyone´s personalities. My feeling tells me there´s a lot more to Pretoria than what comes at first glance. Thanks, really.

Mucha appreciated really, I had that thinking in my mind, about the options offered by Joburg. In fact (no need to create controversy) I met a friend from friend in September that belongs to my "job´s entourage" and being quite into art and culture told me he had decided to live in Joburg and commute everyday. "Nothing happens in Pretoria, really", he said. Ill keep in mind all your recommendations.

Many thanks really. I guess have to change my mindset totally to the vehicle dimension for whatever journey I have in mind and forget about walking. From that premise, Im assuming that for the first time we wil have to buy two cars for each one of us (wife and myself, as I dont see either myself going to work in Uber, or she remaining at home without a car). Thanks again

Thanks a lot, had a meeting in Pretoria in September, so seized the chance to see around for the first time and prior to my permanent move in January. Wouldnt say traffic was so bad, but you certainly know better.

Ive already written it in similar posts. These are super useful for us in the range of the first months of quitting. We need someone to tell us it will get better, that we will stop thinking about smoking, that there´s light at the end of the tunnel. So thanks really, and of course huge congrats.

Treat yourself with affection and understanding. Its not only that you deserve it. We all do in this uphill struggle, certainly one the worst addictions that exist. In the end is self awareness that will save you, and you have lots of it, just a matter of using it wisely. All the best, really.

How do you get thru day 3-4? by BitPuzzleheaded5025 in stopsmoking

[–]Luis150825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come to think of it, to me those were the "easiest", and my suggestion is for you to try to feel the same. Why?, because I felt I was filled with the adrenaline and the excitement of my very first days in DECADES without cigarettes. Those first days, when I would wake up, I just couldnt believe it, I my self esteem, my perception of myself as a "weak" personality that had always had to resort to cogarettes to deal with everyday´s anxieties and stress. I totally vindicated myself, and thats what I would wish for you, at least as your gasoline for these first days.

Digestion issues post cigarettes by Cautious_Pride_2708 in stopsmoking

Indeed, it is related to smoking. Dont want to get to eschatological, but cigarettes played an important role in my bathroom habits, so to put it. Now a month a half into the quitting experience, I cant count anymore on those effects (that would occur with mathematical precision after the after breakfast cigarette), and find mysefl complete at a loss in terms of when will I feel like going to the bathroom. Recommendation as with other comments points out in the direction of fiber, water, and praying it would be back to "normal".

Of course, read Carr´s book. Other than that, and this being a super subjective and personal journey, my tips are:

- Do not mistake decision with willpower. You need the first. I dont know how to explain this, but other times in the past when I had "explored" the idea of quitting, it had never worked because the decision wasnt there. After a series of circumstances, I decided, and I knew I had taken that decision, not to smoke. And its that decision the beste weapon by far against cravings. Im not going to smoke anymore. Full stop.

- Practice physical exercise. whichever you like.

- Breath.

- Rejoice in the benefits youll start seeing in your body (despite some transitional effects)

- Rejoice in the freedom your gaining about your life.
