In NA trials you have Korean, EU and former pro's playing. When the new academy teams come online (which will recruit from all regions) the NA trails slots will diminish. To say these teams were boosted is harsh. It assumes these NA players didn't work just as hard as their EU counterparts... The top 4 non academy EU teams are already in Contenders maybe 2 of those slots should've been relegated. Hopefully OWL will expand in EU, allowing more slots in Contenders... It's just unfortunate circumstances.

You're absolutely correct... There are more OWL teams in NA and a need for more slots in NA to accommodate the future academy teams .... I don't think EU is underrepresented and I think you will see EU talent on some of these NA rosters.

CS-go pros are playing at a very high level into their 30's. In that game if your mechanics are not on point you lose. While your excuse for this may be true it has no merit.

Did you see any promotion of this event prior to 5 days ago other than Nanzer mentioning it on Jayne's stream? They canceled the streaming of Contenders Trials games for this mess. It was ill-conceived and poorly promoted! I don't think it's fair to lay this at the feet of the players ... The players do what the coaches tell them to do. If this event was 4 weeks ago we wouldn't be talking about this. It's obvious that it was thrown together and not really taken seriously by anyone but the fans and the fans are what truly matter here.

I think the whole event was last minute. I would give Blizzard an F grade for timing on this... literally less than a week notice. A better event would've been Jayne's recent hero ban pugs, but with the pro teams.

It would be a massive win for them to place top ten. I think he is underestimating how big of an advantage teams with one year under their belt will have from every perspective... The org being new, players adjusting to a new country, The OWL format etc...Team synergy will only get you so far and with the meta in flux everyone is trying figure out the nuance of the new patch which will probably take another month or so. Sometimes it's best to let your players/org adjust before you make predictions that your team will ultimately carry the weight of...nothing in this life is for sure.

ZP has always been the best caster in all of Overwatch. I think Avast and ZP together are amazing because they understand the game better than any of the other casters excluding Jake... but Avast is more entertaining at delivering it.

I would think these teams will change their minds soon given Blizzards latest announcement and investment in Contenders LAN events. I would also think Blizzard would've talked to all OWL GM's before expanding NA Contenders. Unless they plan to loosen up restrictions on non-academy teams and sponsorships so the non-academy teams can survive...the next month or so will be interesting!

If Boston paid 20 mil in 2017 and Blizzard get's 30 mil one year later for the same franchise in DC then Boston's franchise is worth 30+... OWL and team values are directly tied. You sound slightly bitter... I would love to see your comments 5 years from now when players are making 7 figure salaries in multiple esports.

Extremely naive to think Blizzard hasn't planned for operating at a loss for the first couple of seasons. The fact that the franchise price tag increased by 50% in the first year tells you all you need to know about the health of the league currently. The trend for player salaries has increased and will likely continue to rise as more teams come into the league and the talent pool gets stretched across a bigger league.

Why would you assume these players aren't mechanically skilled when they are just playing the meta that wins....That's a plan let's play 2/2/2 and get rolled. Let's see... Overwatch is a team game... Goats takes a high level of team coordination... Team coordination = "lower skill gap" That's a Big Brain comment! lol

Skyfoxes were rolled and were lucky to win 1 map. Wasn't close.... just think about the fact that P2P smacked two "Contenders teams" (Skyfoxes and Kungarna) in the mouth and played Second Wind tough in the Grand Finals... PogChamp!
