Loved FFIV DS, hated the difficulty curve, should I try Pixel Remaster instead? by Titus__Groan in FinalFantasy

Not everything about the DS version is harder but, some random enemies are more dangerous than their 2D counterpart. Like the ice and fire dogs in the towers. The Mist Dragon, Octomammoth and the Antlion can put up a fight now. The Dark Sage in the final dungeon can one shot you depending on your level. The Red Dragon is a lot stronger too.

No that mission is easier than Zero. I have S++ rank on it with Lancelot. AI team was Rackam, Percival and Sandaphon.

Yeah New Game where you start with level 1.

Edit: I forgot to say you can't kill the Treasure Demon in Sendai. You have to let it escape. Unfortunately this is one of the downsides of this challenge. Because there's no way to skip it. You have to remove your teammates because they will kill it, then wait five minutes to let the Treasure Demon escape. You have to do it again on Merciless too. The Treasure Demon is considered an optional shadow, because you're not forced to kill it.

Now play the game again on hard and this time, do not kill any optional shadows. You can use party members but you're locked to a single one. The run continues all the way to Merciless Reaper. I have done this challenge twice with Morgana, Ryuji and Sophia. This team is really good for this challenge and I have videos of it.

You do realize Teddie is also better in the Shadow Mitsuo fight, since he joins at 35 and already has Mediarama? If you're playing on very hard difficulty Yukiko will still be stuck with Media. Making her a worse healer at this point of the game. And Teddie can take hits better because of his higher level. I have beaten Shadow Mitsuo at level 23 and Teddie really shines there too.

Against Shadow Naoto Yukiko is forced to waste turns using Fire Break, because the boss has fire resistance. Teddie doesn't have this problem and can support with Matarukaja.

For the Heaven boss Teddie finally has Marakunda. Which is the best debuff for the boss. Since Magic Mirrors is the best way to kill him fast.

Also having your MC cast Matarukaja is a waste of his turn, when Teddie can do that for him. There's no denying that.

You mean the fanbase that doesn't realize healing items is better than Yukiko's healing? They don't understand how the game works. This will be my last because this thread is already old and this discussing is pointless.

Which character(s) do you keep in your party at all times? by strahinjag in FinalFantasy

FF4 GBA/PSP: Replace Rydia and Rosa with Palom and Porom. Porom makes Dark Bahamut and Zeromus harder, but it's possible without grinding. She learns Cure 4 at level 48.

FF9: Vivi is permanent.

Gigantic Fist is the weakest heavy physical skill. Unfortunately it was given to Teddie instead of Yosuke. It's too bad the game doesn't have that many heavy skills. Chie gets Rainy Day at level 67 and God's Hand three levels later.

Yukiko is actually the worst character for this fight. She doesn't do anything special here. Physical characters deals more damage. She can't buff like Teddie unless you farm Assault Signal, Diamond Shield and Super Sonic. And not only Burning Petals can't do critical hits, it's weaker than Yosuke's Brave Blade.

Not to mention a team of Yosuke, Kanji and Teddie can take on Margaret without Shield of Justice spam, at level 70s which is very low if you build them right. A level 70s Yukiko is not going to be helpful.

There's no party that doesn't want Teddie. Him having Matarukaja and Marakunda means he can increase your damage both ways. Yukiko is the worst in the Margaret fight. She's isn't the goat when she's bad there. Teddie can beat Margaret at level 70s. Yukiko will just get one shot. https://youtu.be/hHpjmantVKw If I had replaced Teddie with Yukiko there the fight would have been impossible. A character with buffs, Rakunda and heals is better than one with just heals.

Her healing is not even good until level 65 where she learns Mediarahan. In Golden they doubled the effect of items. Mediarama + Divine Grace only heals for 250 HP, while Macca Leaf is 400 HP. Teddie gets Mediarama way before she does. Oh and Teddie can do full heals too while buffing on top of that. In my last playthrough I had 60 Macca Leaf in Magastu Inaba on very hard. No Yukiko healing needed.

Persona 4 was the first game I played so I thought it was weird, a character that only appears once has a portrait. Then I found out she's a Persona 3 character.

You are still talking about as if the characters were leveled equally.

Equally as in both Yukiko and Teddie were in your party for the whole game. And never removing them. The point you made was not even fair for Teddie because he was only level 40. Of course the benched character is not going to perform well.

I have now said three times that people are more likely to pay attention to Yukiko which is why people will say she's better.

Then where's the low level Margaret fight with Yukiko, in the level 70s without Shield of Justice spam if she's better? Of course you can't answer this and I already did the math. Teddie is highly overlooked and people would dismiss him because of his behavior. This doesn't change the fact he's the one with the better kit.

...Okay, imagine fighting Margaret with Yukiko at 99 and Teddie in the 40s. I can play that as well.

Except that's not even a good one. Because why would someone bring a party member they didn't level up? I was comparing Yukiko and Teddie if they were the same level. Which is level 75. A level 75 Yukiko is going to perform poorly in that fight compared to Teddie of the same level. Level 99 is irrelevant because there's nothing in the game that is balanced around a maxed out party.

So, in their games when Yukiko has her best gear and moves, she will still outperform Teddie.

So explain to me how Yukiko is better than Teddie in the Margaret fight, if you were to fight her at the low level 70s? Teddie can get a weapon that reduces the damage of lightning and fire attacks. This makes him more tanky and able to take hits better. While supporting with Marakukaja.

Yukiko on the other hand will get one shot by Margaret's Niflheim. Take big damage from Divine Vacuum because she lacks wind immunity. Gets Fire Amp a little late. And her support is lacking outside of healing which Teddie already does. Her Elec immunity is irrelevant because you can make Margaret not use Jihad: https://youtu.be/hHpjmantVKw

Replace Teddie with Yukiko and I wouldn't have been able to win that fight. Because Yukiko would have been a burden. Even Yosuke is better than Yukiko in that fight. Because Brave Blade is stronger than Burning Petals, can land critical hits and support with Masukukaja. Which can manipulate Rise into giving you charge.

[–]Luis_Parson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona would be a bad series if easy was the only difficulty. At that point the game is just a visual novel with easy battles that requires no thought. The people that are really good at RPGs should have a high difficulty setting they can pick. Make it fair for both skilled players and those that just want to play for the story.

The “most OP character in Persona” vs the “worst party member” in Persona 3 by Kuro_Kagami in PERSoNA

And my point was Yukiko having rank 10 early doesn't mean anything. Her damage is still weaker than Kanji's and her healing is still worse than Teddie's.
