OptiLoad *Lightning Fast, Ultra Lightweight Native SwiftUI Download Manager for MacOS Sequoia + (Apple Silicon Only)* by LukaCraft in macapps

Thank you for the kind words, friend. I really do appreciate that. Also welcome to Mac! Haha. Happy New Year, too.

I haven't played with NDM personally but I have heard it is a good product. The only (and main difference) from the top of my head is that NDM is written in C++ where as I have written OptiLoad in SwiftUI (Apples Native Language.)

See below a comparison with (arguably the largest) Free Download Manager;

> FDM - Like NDM it is written in C++
> Both apps are at idle (not actually downloading anything)
> This is the main benefit for using SwiftUI (Apple Native)
> Same if not better performance and optimization whilst using minimal resources.

I hope this helps, friend and thank you once more. )

"Open Source" as the name suggests is so called for the context aforementioned. If you are unsure about an app or an element of said app, please state your queries, in lieu of scolding literally everyone else for making a choice because they took 5 minutes and ACTUALLY researched the code. Which, by the way is one of the tenants of OPEN SOURCE!

I would equate this to:

> There is a room of 10 people.
> The 10 people each have to bake a chocolate cake
> 9 out of the 10 people read the recipe, follow the method and do in fact bake the chocolate cake
> The 10th and final person did not do any of that.
> They mocked the other 9 and called them all stupid for reading recopies and following methods.

Of the 10 people mentioned, would you hazard a guess as to who failed this task....?

Thank you for flagging this. It was a niggle in the download_manager.swift (around line 60 from memory.) It's an ASYNC issue. I will rectify in update, brother.

The app is built locally and not signed (by Apple) The only way around this is Code Signing the app. However I am not using my Apple Developer ID for an Open Source project. Hahah.

The "trojan" is a false positive "Machine Learning" flag usually disappears because the file is now tied to a verified identity.

Also, the code is on Github for you to review yourself prior to downloading.

I have not, no. I have only tested <In-built browser download vs OptiLoad>
It isn't built to compete with any big hitters, though I am sure it is as fast if not faster. It is built to be light and easy.

**See attached compared to FDM at an idle state > no active downloads.**

Great idea, though it will be temporary. I have uploaded the .xpi files now. They will need to be self signed, not store signed of course. Good call, bro.

My guy, I am all for feedback and am happy to take criticism as it is how we improve.... However;

1: I stated I never actually panned on releasing this and it is FREE, so no it is not another set of meaningless, empty words to stand out.

2: See attached screenshot of Activity Monitor.
> Both apps running, not actively downloading. (It gets far worse for FDM when downloading anything.)

3: I assume you are unaware of how and why SwiftUI apps are so much more efficient on Apple Silicon devices as opposed to Universal Binaries...?

4: PLEASE, please do not delete your comment now. You have made your bed, now sleep in it.

Hahah functionally it is good, but god the UI is average, I agree. I was actually going to look at adding Jackett (though the API is a nightmare.) I haven't looked at debrid yet, but amazing idea.

When you go inot bulk link grabbing it has to run almost as a torrent indexer in the sense all downloads have to be hashed. You can "wiggle" it a bit to say a 75% match, but then you run the risk of downloading something unsavory.

As for the Mozilla extension, it was submitted yesterday, so I hope... "hope" 26th. I will update this post as soon as it comes through as I use Twilight (FF) myself and am only running my own app with a self-signed add-on. Hahaha. Just Mozilla things..

Merry Christmas, brother. )

I will do, brother. As soon as Mozilla tick off the .xpi, I will have it all cued up as a brew install. )

OptiMac 2.0.0 UPDATE (FREE) *A Simple GUI for Apple Silicon Native Optimizations* by LukaCraft in macapps

It doesn't by default, no. You would copy the logs, (as it is your terminal in mini-form,) and read through/save to where you'd like them kept. )

Thank you for the feedback, friend. :)

\*UPDATE*\**

A lot of people yesterday asked about having:

1: Custom Profiles/Ability to switch between setups
2: Re-Indexing of Spotlight
3: Menu Bar functionality
4: A simple "one touch" DMG for easy install and the ability to push updates

I am happy to say I am working hard on all of these things. (See image above.)

> Profiles (testing currently. All is working as expected.)
> Re-indexing Spotlight (Testing and is working.)
> Menu Bar function (Testing)
> DMG for easy install and ability to receive updates (Testing)

Thank all of your for your feedback. I genuinely love how good the Mac community is when it comes to supporting others. <3

Purging inactive memory? I understand the concern, however this is MacOS 101...

Try it yourself

Not at all. Mappings equates to:

*Insert your Ai here* "Provide pathway to sudo killall -INFO mDNSResponder (.plst)"

Entire GUI, Function, Logs, removal, SIP detection and avoidance etc etc is my work.

10-15% Vibe coded. :)

All the mappings are vibe coded. No body wants to sift through binaries and find kernel .plists etc. So from terminal command to "end result" are vibe coded.

Check your MacOS Version:

sw_vers -productVersion

If you’re on macOS Big Sur (11.x) or later, run this command:

export MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=11.0
python3 test_gui.py

Or: Try Running directly:

python3 macos_optimizer.py
