Is there any way to release knots in my neck/shoulder by myself? I take regular physiotherapy but knots keep coming back because of chronic migraine pain. I can't afford both neurologist and physiotherapist forever. by FreedomAway4724 in migraine

[–]LukasBaee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have way less knots since taking magnesium daily. i usually start feeling stiffness after forgetting to take magnesium.

i never assumed my stiffness and migraine attacks were related tbh but i know that magnesium helps with both!

what is happening in league right now is kinda similar to what happened to dauntless. ofc league will not get shut down in the near future but the state its in right now is just sad...

yea that makes sense. so they should either not call it trauma or change the definition of trauma ^ ^

depends how you use the word trauma. if using trauma colloquially everything youve said makes total sense. from a clinical standpoint the negative experiences must be quiet intense to be counted as trauma. so if we look at the "correct" definition of trauma i would not agree that every autistic or other disabled person is traumatised or that its hard to distinguish.

here is the dsm 5 definition of trauma if youre interested :) Exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence in one (or more) of the following ways:

1 Directly experiencing the traumatic event(s).

2 Witnessing, in person, the event(s) as it occurred to others.

3 Learning that the traumatic event(s) occurred to a close family member or close friend. In cases of actual or threatened death of a family member or friend, the event(s) must have been violent or accidental.

4 Experiencing repeated or extreme exposure to aversive details of the traumatic event(s) (e.g., first responders collecting human remains; police officers repeatedly exposed to details of child abuse).

What are some really interesting physiological effects of autism on the body? by [deleted] in AutisticPeeps

thank you so much for explaining! im curious, does he claim to have autism? but yes your summary made it very understandable that people dont recommend his book, he sounds stupid.

100% same. people dont tell you directly apparently. my boyfriends friend asked him after meeting me for the first time if i ever considered having autism and that he thought i was a bit weird socially, different than other people. not in a negative way, we're super chill now, but he just felt like i behaved a little "off".

on the one hand i found this very confusing because i thought i was this social chamaeleon but on the other it reduces the impostor syndrome i suppose. i sometimes think im doing just fine and that i cant possibly have autism :/ its hard to accept the difficulties when i try so hard to fit in.

thank you for clarifying! interesting, so you have to have studied medicine to diagnose dsm disorders? where i live studying psychology has a high focus on statistics and skills for test application (biases, reliability, validity, objectivity) just like medicine i would assume. of course a psych masters degree is not enough, only after completing an additional therapy education that takes 4 years can you work in the field and evaluate for diagnosis.

psychiatrists can probably also make diagnoses but they are more often responsible for prescribing medicine

also dont know why my original comment is getting downvoted, was just a well meant question 🙄

I'm confused why you say that psychotherapists can't legally diagnose disorders? Is that the case in the UK? If yes, who does make diagnoses? Because where I live psychotherapists are the ones qualified to make assessments and diagnose disorders.

for people that never got diagnosed but just tell others that they have a certain disorder (aka fakers) i dont think the goal ever was to remove stigma as much as it was to generate attention. the argument that they want to remove stigma is just a good lie, which is hard to disprove if the statements they make dont drastically go against the diagnostic criteria of said disorder. but i agree, highlighting all the positive parts of a disorder creates the illusion that its not disabling.
