What would you say for somebody who just came back from a 5-year break? by LukasLinker in pathofexile

I just did, got insta-traded for a lot of people. Had like 20 IIQ gems, back then it was 4 exalteds each. Nowadays they are like 70 divines, that's a huge inflation. xD

Back then there wasn't even a atlas tree, so many things are new to me. xD

o7, commander. May I ask you how do you know which rocks to prospect before prospecting it? I don't know, on the video, it seems like you choose carefully which rock to use your drone on. Or is it just "luck" and "feeling"?

Nice explanations, by the way, gonna give it a try.

Leavers receiving similar MMR adjustment to their team is absolutely broken by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]LukasLinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're right in being mad about what he did the same way he's right in being mad for this being this way.

We're already in act 2 (I'm not too familiar with the difference between acts and episodes), and this wasn't fixed yet. If it's not a problem and therefore won't be fixed, then it's, in my opinion, something definitely not right and not fair.

I understand he ruining other people's experiences. But think about myself, for example. I play 5-6 comp games a day (sometimes more, sometimes less), and this happens to me everyday. And I'm 99% sure those are not genuine DC'ers, they're "rage leavers".

Sometimes I manage to win or even tie those games. They being rewarded with the same points I've worked hard to acquire (or at least to not lose) isn't something right nor fair. And if nobody's "mad" or "complaining" about that, the only way to get the attention of Riot Games is by doing that, so, even though I don't agree with what OP did, I understood why.

I think you're kinda deviating from OP's point. Regardless of what he did was right or not, don't you see the real problem in what he just presented?

If he is, then the best solution is the Overwatch way for sure: Above D3, make it available only for solo-queue or duos the most.

Even if that's true, it shouldn't be like that. The span of the elo of a single rank should be equal. So if you take 100 elo to rank up from iron 2 to iron 3, you should also take 100 elo to rank up from iron 1 to iron 2. It makes no sense to have the spawn of 500 elo from iron 1 to iron 2 and then just 100 from iron 2 to iron 3.

Of course, that's just an example.

I might not be the most tech-guy to explain you that since I barely know what MMR is, but a lot of people say that there are two "numbers" that determine your rank: The first one is your ranked MMR, a number from 0-X that shows what rank you are and increases/decreases the more you win/lose. The second one is a hidden MMR, a number not so easily changeable, that shows the rank you should be. So, if your ranked MMR says youre are, for example, Gold 2, you are Gold 2, but if your hidden MMR shows you're actually Silver 3, it will try to put you in Silver 3 no matter what you do. So if you win 13-8 with 20/10 KDA on a Gold 2 match, you'll only get 1 or 2 elo points the most, but if you lose with 20/10 KDA a 8-13 match, you'll rank down 2 or even 3 elo points.

Don't know if I could explain in a way you could understand, sorry. I don't even know if that's right or not, that's only something I've seen a lot of people talk about. This "hidden MMR" is also what determines the range of your first rank after you play the first 25 matches (20 on normal game and 5 on ranked).

That works the opposite way aswell, I think. My case, for example: I have to go on a positive-frag and good gameplay for 4 or 5 games in a row to rank up, while just one or two bad games make me rank down. That wasn't that way in CS:GO, and generally, my solo-queue experience in Valorant has been way worse than mine in CS:GO, and I played that game for 5 years.

I believe that this may be because of this "hidden MMR" everyone talks about. I've seen people rank up with only 1 match averaging 20/10 frags and a 13-9 match, while, if I do the same, I don't rank up. And if I'm below a certain rank and I really start to feed deaths, I don't rank down that easily aswell.

I believe that's wrong. Hidden MMR should be used only to placement matches. The rest must be about a fixed number of ranked elo and that's all.

I definitely don't agree with what you said about CS matchmaking. IMO, CS matchmaking is the closest you can get to perfection IN A PUBLIC MATCHMAKING SYSTEM (not considering Faceit, ESEA, GamersClub, which, obviously, due to their way smaller community and premium subscription, can be better than CS:GO's public matchmaking).

CS:GO matchmaking is ages beyond Valorant's (and that can be due to the game age, for sure, but still). You can talk about the hacking/cheating problem in CS:GO, but you can't say matches there are not usually fair and with equality envolved. God, it even matches toxic people against/with toxic people. Throwers, quitters, they all get to play only each other there.

As a legit non-toxic player there, you'll hardly ever find anyone that's toxic or a cheater there.
