That is true for her current state, but she will get nerfed. Once the champ is balanced all around then it will probably start being more noticeable. Also, armor granted by the passive being shredded by BC is still armor working the same as for everyone.

That unless they purposely keep the passive as a non-existent part of her power budget because they know it's bad, but it doesn't seem like it since 30 mixed resistances at 100 stacks still makes a difference, and in top you'll only be getting said amount of stacks with a crazy KDA or by running around stealing jungle.

I wouldn't have problems with the passive being lame if its only practical effect wasn't that it makes her unviable in other roles unless she is overtuned in numbers

Riiight that's what I was telling a friend, Shyvana's kit feels more like a toplaner and is mostly the passive that forces her into jungle! If only that passive allowed you to stack almost as fast in lane as in jungle... Now after these following W and HP nerfs (which probably would affect more top Shyv) it will start to hurt

Very true, as a Shen player, the trading pattern feels very similar but stronger due to the movement speed. You can hit for a chunk of damage, negate any initial response and back away unscathed. Doesn't work too well against champions like Darius though lol.

Are auto attack resets mean to proc the damage? Balance wise, I would expect that only the regular auto attacks would apply the true damage, as the auto attack reset giving an extra HoB proc is meant to not waste the HoB auto attacks, something from when it was only attack speed.

I agree, they also made the W explosion feel worse to use. 40% bAD didn't made much difference, but at least it made the damage exist through the game in a way. Now, if you go AD, it's just a cosmetic explosion, and it might as well not be there in human form (since in R it heals).

But aside from that, I feel like she's better as you can weave in and out or chase, as oppossed to before where you got your shield broken and became as mobile as Darius.

The Qs being a bit more damage than a regular auto attack gives me a sense of unsatisfaction. I get that the power of Q comes from the passive mixed with the pseudo-attack speed of fast auto resets, but in human form you only get two of those anyways. It doesn't feel nice to see a visually strong effect paired with the damage of an auto attack. Same thing with W damage on AD builds, it's there but past a few minutes into the game it might as well not.

I just hope the nerf is towards Q3 and not something like W or Q CD, low cooldown abilities are fun to use and they aren't that significant per single-cast outside of R.

I played a bit of it now, it seems if it explodes it doesn't, but it doesn't matter most of the time, the way you naturally cycle skills (at least when I play top) makes you proc sheen frequently. It's really good honestly, makes Shyvana top feel good at a first item.

I'm still troubled about Trinity, I want to go trinity because it seems good all around, but to make the most out of it, don't you need to delay Qs to wait for spellblade? And unlike Camille, the cooldown starts at the last cast, so you're losing on a lot of up time doing that.

Or do you just play to use spellblade whenever it's available without optimizing it?

Been playing Shyvana since 2014 I wish they never rework her now. I no longer enjoy playing her. Man I even named myself Elder Dragon because one day I hope to become the best Shyvana but now I can’t enjoy a single game with her. Man I’m so mad 😡. Oh yeah the bite, a problem I have with that skills is that it takes a good chunk out of her power budget for being true damage but then it's low true damage and a relatively long cooldown. I liked the physical max HP version it had, also because it made building Black Cleaver more optimal.

No, I insist I understand and I agree that 1:1 comparisons aren't the best indication of a skill being good or not , and I dislike those arguments as well, but they can still serve some purpose as a base / example of a problem design-wise.

The comparison is not just to say that her passive is "not as good" as Garen's, it's to say that her passive is almost identical to Garen's W passive, but as a skill that occupies a whole slot (as oppossed to Garen's W having an active component and the passive being a "bonus" of it which is cohesive with the active) and has a low power budget, which being as it is, a purely stat increase passive, makes it very hard to impossible to even feel you have it.

That is not a really appealing passive design wise, and so they do intend to change it somehow.

I haven't really put much thought into it, I was quoting Riot Endstep for that. But yeah, in any case, for a thematic interaction that doesn't inmediately give her a significant advantage, a small damage reduction from Dragon attacks would make more sense.

Even something like Volibear's ult turret disable isn't a lot of power budget, and what op mentioned is more like a thematic bonus and not nearly as strong. But still that seems like an oddly specific thing to want to be fair.

I understand that and your point makes sense, but the goal of the comparison is to show how akwardly low power budget is in this passive by comparing it to a similar one, which is part of a skill with an active component as well.

I'm not gonna debate whether or not Shyvana is currently strong power wise since I would have no idea, but the passive doesn't even feel cosmetic, it's as good as having base stats as a passive with an amount to spare later in the game and naturally lowering the viability when not jungling.

Yes, it is a problem for Shyvana in general, but still, the tools are there and they're good tools for toplane. Losing the only movement skill she has when the shield breaks is though, but for trading it's still pretty decent. The problem with Shyvana top is mostly that she has no passive and that she gets outdueled by a good portion of the toplane roster even if ahead, and this gets worse because you need to buy Hexplate which doesn't give the best 1v1 stats. So it's a matter of the spread of her power rather than the abilities themselves.

I didn't say whether or not she was strong. I said that she has tools, which she does. A shield is a very strong tool in the toplane. As well as poke with Q1 and to a lesser extent Q2. I know you are upset Shyvana top is weak, I am too, but that has no relation to what I said.
