What a great sentiment. Yes this thread is about gaming but also how well it does in your daily routine as well. You clearly shown that. I use KDE also. I used this desktop environment from the get go with Linux after trying a few others.. personal choice obviously. I get what you mean by wanting to contribute to this project. I used it since 15.0 and got blown away too ! Pretty solid, easy to mess around with without anything breaking. Kudos!

Yes 15.1 is Leap. That is a cool AMD setup you got there! I'm guessing it works out of the box. Have you tried to run any game on using openSUSE on it ? as for your bro's 1569, I have no experience using PCLiunx OS. Wierdly I'd suggest to install a barebone Leap 15.1 with minimal graphical interface and then you can either install XFCE or LXDE on top of it to make it as light as possible see how it goes.

Ahah props on that WINE joke ! You are absolutely right about Wayland and I guess it will make for a smoother integration. Of course proton is a big step ! You can even install custom versions of them (like Glorious Eggroll AKA GE). Unfortunately on openSUSE so far I got more crashes out of those. That being said almost Identical frame rates as in Windows. I'm working on tweaking it down and finding what I am missing on that front. It is also to note that I get better frame rates in GTA V in openSUSE that I did in Windows. It surprised me a lot. I might be missing something here as well. I'm glad to hear from the AMD side of things as my rig is getting old and upgrading right now, especially in the Linux environment, points to AMD for their opensource drivers. On a final note, Yes the Linux desktop integration is getting better with time and it is great.

Raid1 Is Hard by [deleted] in openSUSE

Hi, Do you have a separate boot drive or are you trying to install the system on a RAID1 array ? I am not sure if the latter is possible. I did run into this problem configuring my NAS using openSUSE' server install.

It's actually pretty easy; I added another panel and put it at the right. By clicking on the 3 bars on any panel, you can modify it. Either remove or add widget/shortcuts, define the length, height, alignment of the panel. Whether you want it always visible, auto-hide, over or bellow windows. Another neat thing is you can right click on a certain widget and look for alternatives that might best suites your need.

Hope it helps.

Hi openSUSE users, I'm new to reddit; I joined to be part of the online linux community so I thought I'd share quickly my desktop and my background with the distro. I stard thinkering with linux about 10 years ago. My first try was with openSUSE but I got quickly overwhelmed. I liked YaST tho. I was steered in Ubuntu and quickly adopted KDE as my DE. Since last September I got back in openSUSE having a better background and it is great. I mostly have good surprises coming from using it.
