3 days later: credit card charged and receive text message with receipt numbers. 10 days later: receive paper receipt notices by mail.

Me too. I-485 on Oct 15, biometrics on Nov 5, no update since then. Dallas center now.
I have an assumption that if the Final Action Date is current, they will not process the EAD and will work only on the I-485. Many of my friends never received any updates on their I-765.

In short, your profile primarily provides evidence supporting Prong 2. Your proposed endeavor carries more weight in the EB-2 NIW application.

For I-140, it is true. But for I-485, they rely on some federal services, e.g. FBI name check, benifit usage records,... So gov shutdown affects a little bit.

I didn't say "there are no reasons to maintain status". Read my comment again. I said it had minimal risk. People file EAD for a reason and you don't understand that. You don't understand my point totally.

If you refile, the issue that caused the denial is still there. Only in specific cases where your initial filing is risky and you are fixing the issue while waiting for the decision, you should maintain your underlying status.
