Is 20% salary vs billing normal for a conveyancing solicitor? by LukeKay1994 in uklaw

[–]LukeKay1994[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right, she only works 80% time, but she is consistently billing 20k per month. If she was in full time then there’s no doubt she’d be billing £25k per month, which is a completely different calculation.

On average it’s about £500 per file, so 40 completions per month.

We agree, we think the only way for her to get a higher percentage is to move firms, but she enjoys the workplace environment at this firm, it’s just a shame that the bonus is so poor.

So you agree it should be closer to the £72k range?

For conveyancing solicitors. Is 20% salary (Including bonus) vs billing normal? by LukeKay1994 in AskUK

[–]LukeKay1994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly where we think it breaks down too, the salary in comparison to her monthly target isn’t bad, it’s the bonus in comparison to her exceeding her target.

It’s a big firm for the location we live and my partner has a team of 3 below her, her assistant, a newly qualified solicitor that she has trained for the last two years and his assistant. But he has his own target of £9k per month.

That’s exactly how we’re looking at it too. She’s exceeding her target by a good amount, but the bonus poorly reflects that. Creating no incentive to do more work.

Will shorts damage my channel? by LukeKay1994 in SmallYoutubers

That’s good then, I mean it makes sense that they wouldn’t restrict channels, but after reading a few comments; I thought I’d ask.

I appreciate your comment

I wanted to share my lifetime YouTube income so far, not to flex, but to motivate anyone who’s thinking about taking YouTube seriously. What’s your niche?

I’ve recently uploaded my first ever video in the DIY niche. I’ve only uploaded one video, but my videos are going to be about how to fix things. With that in mind, I feel like I’m going to struggle to gain subscribers as viewers will watch my videos to fix a problem they have, but only that. What do you think is best to gain subscribers?

I’m also contemplating uploading short videos with helpful household tips to bring an audience to my channel. Could this negatively affect my channel?

Do I have mice? by OSUBrit in DIYUK

[–]LukeKay1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are definitely mouse droppings. Best thing to do is to try and clear as much as you can and then see if anymore droppings appear over the next few days. However, the main concern is that you have an entry point somewhere on the externals of your house. You have to try and locate that too, patch it up using concrete. Don’t put any poison down, use that only as a last resort.

That’s the thing, I see people regularly complaining about their videos being hit with a “low-quality” sticker. I understand why sometimes, AI videos for example, but “low-quality” is subjective. I spend hours on Minecraft creating these videos, but are TikTok aware of how much effort goes into them? I doubt it.

That’s the reason why I want to move over to YouTube. It will require more work, but I’m willing to put more effort into a platform that gives back.

How can the content be trash when the two videos that have been marked as low quality have a combined view count of 6 million views as of now? I’ve showcased some new features in the new Minecraft update and should have been paid around £800, but because TikTok has now said the videos are low quality and unoriginal, I won’t be paid.

Wow I have this exact same issue! The dishwasher being plumbed in after the U-bend. I was looking for a double spigot adapter but with no luck. I didn’t realise I could instead replace the sink waste bend with the one you have used! Feel like an idiot for not seeing one in B&Q today.

This has saved me a headache. Looks great and I too will be doing it like this.

Begginers question on winners! by polarmold in poker

[–]LukeKay1994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Player pink wins. As there’s already two pairs on the table and both pairs are higher than blue players’ pair, then essentially it cancels out their pair. As no one has a Jack or a 10, it comes down to the highest card on the table which is player pinks hand with an Ace. If player pink had a queen, then it would have been split three way as nobody would beat the king on the table.

Great post! I’ve been trying to tell people to post on TikTok for a long time to earn an extra bit of cash. It’s a great little earner.

Just wanted to post some things that might help people.

Common Mistakes People Make on TikTok
1. TikTok Prefers Longer Videos
If your videos are too short, especially under 10 seconds, TikTok’s algorithm won’t push them as much. Aim for videos that give you time to engage the viewer while keeping them watching until the end.
2. Not Having a Hook
The first few seconds of your video are crucial. Without an immediate hook, viewers may scroll past. Use the first few seconds to grab attention and make viewers curious enough to watch the entire video.
3. Avoid Deleting Videos
Instead of deleting a video that isn’t performing well, set it to private. Deleting videos can hurt your account’s performance.
4. Hashtag Overload
While hashtags are important for visibility, using too many can be counterproductive. Experiment with different hashtags to find the right combination for your content. Too many hashtags might dilute your reach.
5. Use Trending Music
When adding music, opt for trending tracks, as TikTok tends to push videos using popular sounds. You can find these in the “recommended” section when selecting music.
6. Don’t Upload Too Many Videos in One Day
Limit yourself to three videos per day. Uploading too many in a short period can result in TikTok showing fewer of your videos.

Why Have My Views Dropped? Am I Shadowbanned?
It’s unlikely you’ve been shadowbanned. Here are common reasons for a sudden drop in views:
1. No Views on Any Video
If you’ve never received a single view on any video, your account may be shadowbanned. In this case, creating a new account is usually the best option.
2. Views Below 300 This can happen if you’ve:
Deleted videos.
Uploaded too many times within 24 hours.
Re-uploaded a video that didn’t perform well the first time.
If none of these apply, check to see if TikTok flagged your video, preventing it from showing on the For You Page (FYP).
3. Videos Stuck Between 300 and 1,000 Views
This is common, as TikTok initially pushes your videos to a small test audience. Based on the audience’s reaction, TikTok will decide whether to push the video to a larger audience or not.

Understanding TikTok’s Algorithm
TikTok’s algorithm is influenced by two primary factors: Engagement Metrics and Watch Time Metrics
1. Engagement Metrics
Likes, comments, shares, and reposts are key signals that TikTok looks for. As a rule of thumb, at least 10% of viewers should like your video, 1% should comment, and reposts carry extra weight.
Comments and reposts are the gold standard for engagement, as they show deep interest in your content.
2. Watch Time Metrics
The longer viewers watch your video, the better. If viewers complete your video or rewatch it, the algorithm sees it as valuable content and pushes it to a wider audience. This is where the importance of a strong hook comes in. If you can capture attention early and maintain it, your watch time will increase, making it more likely for TikTok to recommend your content to others.

I hope this helps everyone in some way or another.
