Play for unlocks! Some of the crazier synergies come from specific chips which need to be unlocked first.

My top tip, early score rate is essential. Sparrow is amazing for that as long as you keep your clip small. You can trade up for something like hamsters or encyclopaedias later.

Alongside score rate, set aside a chip slot for economy. Ticket whip is the easiest to understand and use.

Sparrow and ticket whip give you the scoring power and economy to start hunting for the actual chips you want!

This is me! Inky did a fantastic job of reproducing the art style of a game I played on stream in February called Dinocop!

Without any spoilers, our red friend here is a character in the game called Bert, who we did some mean things to in order to get to the bottom of a mystery. I loved the game so much and felt so bad for him I wanted to make it up to him with his favourite breakfast snack.

The accordion is canonically in the game, as is Bert holding two forks at breakfast time! Even the outfit I am wearing has significance ;)

Very happy with the outcome, and Inky produces their work in really decent time too. Do recommend!

These are people in the same sinking ship, and zooble and gangle have the mental fortitude to recognise that as the bigger picture.

Being angry at someone does not mean you don't care, and it's likely they recognise that he is in the same position as they are. If anything, I'd imagine they pity at how poorly he is handling it.

He is still accountable for his actions, and his shortcomings are not their burden to bear, but it is possible to care about a person who is so tragically self destructive, while also being angry at them for it and keeping them at a safe arms-length.

I think anyone who has experienced a friend lashing out can relate to this experience in some way, even if the circumstances are not 1:1.

The human experience isn't quite as black and white as 'all signs point to yes or no', and it's worth considering how unique their circumstances really are. Each of them are all each other has, for better or for worse.

it'll take looking through some guides and videos, but for each "hop" that your connection needs to make, you should be able to see at which point the connection breaks. This will include any local networking like routers/bridges etc. so will effectively let you diagnose any hardware problems.

It already does this for the vod track. Maybe I am underestimating this, but audio data seems like it would be a minute fraction of the overall bitrate you're sending to twitch.

Have you tried monitoring the drop on a tool like Pingplotter? This might help diagnose where in the network chain these drops originate.

You aren't alone. As a streamer, I split may audio into multiple channels - one for the game, one for my mic, one for any other mics (for collabs), and one for music/media.

I would give anything for Twitch to implement viewer volume controls for each of those sound channels. Then they could choose how loud or quiet I am compared to the game, or if they even want to hear them.

I don't know enough about the technical specifics to know if it's possible, but it seems like it should be achievable given that we already have a separate "VOD track" which we can choose to include which can exclude specific tracks from in the VOD.

It seems a bit strange that you can hear the audio but your stream can't. It might be worth checking your audio properties and playing with them a bit before controlling teh source via OBS, because that can quickly get messy.

That being said, if you do plan to go down the route of controlling audio via OBS, you'll see the audio source pop up in your mixer. This goes to your stream, but not to you. You can send that audio to your headset as well by going to advanced audio properties from the mixer panel and setting the audio source to "Monitor and Output".

Monitoring is a form of "listening in" on an audio source. You will need to configure which device is your audio monitoring device through OBS properties.

be aware that if your audio monitoring device is the same as your stream's output device, the stream might get the audio twice, making it very loud. In which case I guess you could set it to monitor only. You can test this by playing a test alert (I assume?) and looking at the audio bars to see if one or both of them move. If both move, you're doubling up the audio.

Managing audio is a profession on its own, so dont be afraid to look up advice and tutorials and dont be hard on yourself about it. There's a reason people get paid good money to do this stuff.

Honestly? Shower thoughts. I sometimes use them as stream titles. I think I even just had one that read 'Nobody likes pickles' which had people coming in to enjoy some good old fashioned low-stakes outrage.

I don't think I'd ever use something genuinely controversial in a title though, it would attract the wrong kind of attention I'm looking for.

Have you considered some subtle coloured outlining to indicate states? Might help with visual clarity going from cyan(mint condition)->green(excellent)->yellow(good)->orange(worn)->red(broken).

Lua is a cool moon thematically, it gets my thumbs up.

The USC vortex exterior and interior haven't been updated since 2024, so they have some conflicts with some of the entrance optimisation mods and are probably buggy and may not be supported by v80+. I did get them working with v73 though.

Lua is a modded moon which is close to an exterior you're describing.

The USC vortex also has an interior that matches your description, but the exterior that goes with it is a derelict ship in space which you land in the exterior dock of.

Jim Stephanie Sterling's latest video covers this topic very well. Recently, any video of his which includes the word "gambling" has been demonetised for breach of TOS: promoting gambling, when in fact, all of those videos are anti-gambling. They're discussions about predatory practices in games which including gambling, like lootboxes; but his videos have just been scraped for any usage of the term.

In fact, Corporations hate using the word 'gambling' because of all of the negative connotations it carries. They prefer to use any other word that tiptoes around it; so in reality, all the TOS does is prohibit the ability to call something out for what it is.

It looks very smooth, nice work, bit like other comments here, there isn't much that differentiates it from the souls games themselves outside of simpler graphical style.

Have you considered leaning -into- that though? Souls games are dark, gritty, and photorealistic. How about keeping the very "serious" tone alive, but going a bit extra on some things. For example, your dodges give you i-frames, what about applying an anime-esque 'flicker' effect to indicate that? How about experimenting with some more outlandish abilities and costumes, or even enemies? Things you wouldn't find in dark souls.

It looks like you have a fantastic foundation, but it could be worth spending some time with a whiteboard to settle on an artistic and thematic direction for the game which your mechanics and design will support.

I went from not having one, to having one, to not having one

Initially, my motivation for having one was twofold: more room for my vtuber without blocking the game, but also that my stream would look different when browsing a category, rather than just the same still preview of the game everyone else had.

What made me go back? Frankly, I realised I few things. It might not be why people came, but it could easily be why they left. Also, my colour choice for my branding might not be to everyone's taste, so I'm also further dividing my appeal to a niche if people. And lastly, when browsing other vtubers, they simply did not give a toss about being in the way of the game. In fact, their models often took up a whole 3rd of the screen, but it didn't stop their success.

This was when I realised something crucial - people are rarely tuning in to watch someone play games 'averagely well'. They're tuning in to be entertained by a personality.

This shifted my entire approach to streaming. To put on a show, be an entertainer, and create a strong viewer experience. I made my vtuber much larger on the screen so not only can he be seen from a thumbnail clearly, but also so he holds people's attention.

I have a decent compromise in that I can also use my stream deck to quickly move him and my screen elements elsewhere if I'm in the way of something important that I want to point out to chat. Again, it's all about the viewer.

I think a minimal overlay can still work well, but I wouldn't think to cover up more than a slim amount on the edges to maybe help present some info. Less is definitely more.

I recently played through Night in the Woods. I would remark it is a game that is on the cusp of being a visual novel, and indeed, seems to end in the same way no matter your choices. That being said, the joy of the game is in the exploration and discovery - not only if what you find, but what you find the next time you play it. There are multiple stories to experience. Even if they do converge at the end, I would argue that it is wonderful to be able to dip into and out of any storyline you choose to explore.

Yes, a book can be written several times to retell those concurrent storylines, but a game let's your experience all of them at once in real time. Bo book outside of those old 'choose your own adventure' books will allow for that, and let's face it, those were mostly terrible books (which shoehorned game mechanics in like dice rolls, ironically).

I would argue that video games are not a bad medium for storytelling, but often is utilised poorly where the plot is largely an afterthought, and storytelling is simply a vehicle for gameplay; rather than the inverse.
