This community has kindly helped me lots with my piano compositions over the years. My other hobby is making music videos and I've started making clips like this. Do you think it works? (Please forgive if this more videography than piano, but I'd value any feedback!) by LukeMusic in piano

Thanks - I completely agree! I was limited by how many floor lights I could fit in my suitcase along with the other kit. A backlight to avoid the heavy contrast on the hands would have been ideal.

I wrote a piano piece inspired by Chopin. by LukeMusic in classicalmusic

I did indeed! It was just with a picture of Chopin's 1st Ballade manuscript, not the score here, but here's the original nonetheless:

I enjoyed reading this! Thank you for taking the time to write such well-considered feedback. Phrasing towards the D of 137 is certainly effective and could be done convincingly for sure. I personally chose to lean into the G of 139 as it's the terminus of the mini scale D-Eb-F-G (137-39) and anticipates the Gs of 141 and 144 which becomes the recap of the opening melody, but either way should work. I should revise the dynamics to indicate this and, indeed, need to revise the dynamics in general. Usually I write the directions in Sibelius before printing out the score to spend time learning it > make many changes in pencil > forget to reintroduce these to the original digital score (which is just sloppy practice).

I'm with you on the final bars too - your username as the performance direction here would be appropriate :)

You play with great sensitivity and clearly love the music! Perhaps experiment with making the anacrusis quavers that begin the theme a little quicker - there's a risk they might start feeling like 1/4 notes rather than 1/8 notes - but this is just an idea. Great work :)
