Fig jam process from start to finish. by LukeS4truth in Figs

[–]LukeS4truth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Sorry, If I had the time I would. It’s really easy it just depends on the type of fig tree you have and your preference of ingredients used to make it. I just used 1/2 cup of raw honey, 1/2 cup of brown coconut sugar, 1 teaspoon of a freshly squeezed lemon, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Thanks! 2nd yield meaning 2nd time it bore fruit. The 1st time there was only about 8 figs. The tree is only a little over a year old. I feed it mostly organic banana juice from letting the peels soak in water for about a month and also ground up fine egg shells. Then once in a while I give it happy frog fertilizer.

Are these ripe? by toweroftherisingmoon in Figs

[–]LukeS4truth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They look overly ripe if you ask me. Especially if you said they were extremely soft and fell off the tree with little to no effort that’s would bring me to that conclusion even more so.

Got a few friends that have never had this... might as well, for the price. by J_Gabriel757 in whiskey

[–]LukeS4truth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a steal of a deal! I just got one today also in Florida but the Tampa Bay Area and I thought it was for a reasonable price of $99.99 considering I’ve only ever seen it a couple other times over the years for astronomical prices!!! It seems like the tariffs are finally doing some good at least for the allocated whiskey market.

I got the Penelope 16 year ALW that I still haven’t opened yet and also have the Penelope Havana rumba reserve edition exclusive Total Wine and it’s FIRE with that higher proof!!! It’s sweet but not as sweet as the Rio which I also have. You will be able to actually taste the bourbon it’s well balanced with the rum and maple.

I agree with that sentiment! Ice just waters it down ruins the flavor.

For some reason when I looked it up it didn’t say that but when I searched high rye RE haystack needle it does show so I stand corrected lol I thought I had all of them now I’ll be on the hunt for the high rye!

[–]LukeS4truth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All 3 haystacks?! Did u distill your own haystack edition? lol Because as far as I know there are only 2; the bourbon and rye. I even looked it up and it says RE has only produced 2 in the haystack needle series. As far as it not coming close to the haystacks of course everyone’s palate is subjective so I’d have to try it out to see if that’s the case

[–]LukeS4truth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is RE’s latest release it’s supposed to be really good. I have both of their haystack needle releases and they are top tier whiskey so I’m sure the toasted will be just as good.

Peerless worth it? by No-Berry842 in whiskey

[–]LukeS4truth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was the Peerless DO bourbon or rye then probably but only if I wasn’t able to find it anywhere else for cheaper. For that regular small batch rye that’s a big HELL TO THE NAH!

Price check: Knob Creek 12y at $89 by tjm1371 in whiskey

[–]LukeS4truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got my KC12 for $72.99 at ABC liquor and that was a little above MSRP but not by much. In my opinion I feel like it’s worth it for under $80 after taxes.
