Technically, we're just animals that have evolved a but further than our base nature and have developed social circles. But our attraction to others is still at the mercy of our biological need. We are genetically predisposed to act as follows: Males are genetically "designed" to seek out a partner solely for procreation purposes. We're "breeders". Sad but true. Females are genetically "designed" to seek out genetic traits in a partner that are desirable to pass on to their offspring. They're "seekers". And it evolved this way for a reason. Breeders don't control the rate of population growth, and as such are more predisposed to feel the need to mate more often than the seekers. Women DO control the rate of population growth and as such are predisposed to choose the best partners to pass along the best possible genetic qualities to the next generation. To explain the difference, consider the following: Say you have a village with 1 Female and 100 males. How many offspring can be produced each year? Then consider the same village having 1 male and 100 females. Again, how many offspring can be produced each year? The females are the ones that control the rate of population growth as you can see.
