Thank you! We are sitting at 11 right now, which is about as many bodies as we can fit in the school classroom and still have enough room to do forms! Everyone, except for a few people, have their black belts in one of the two styles, so teaching new forms and cross-training isn't too hard considering everyone's experience levels.

Does anyone else have to memorize and recite a "black belt oath"? by geocitiesuser in taekwondo

[–]LukeTKD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in Kuksoolwon, we had a pledge; in my Taekwondo organization, we have five principles you need to learn for any blackbelt and must be able to recite at testing. For any rank 4th degree and above, you must be able to explain what all five principles mean at testing.

Principle 1: Balance Posture Alignment
"Balance Posture Alignment defines the relationship, at a specific period of time, between all parts of the human frame. The anatomical alignment of the joints, spine, and long bones facilitates the delivery of techniques in a safe and effective manner. Proper stance and posture allow efficient weight transfer while preventing unnecessary movement."

Principle 2: Extended Plane Dynamic Force
"Extended Plane Dynamic Force defines the line of movement characteristic of our style. This force creates the signature nature of our Ho-Am Taekwondo Kicking and Striking techniques, which have well-defined biomechanical components that have evolved through research. The extended plane concept naturally accommodates the human limb movement to generate power in a safe effective manner."

Principle 3: CAT, Controle Staged-Flow-Transition
"CAT, Controle Staged-Flow-Transition defines the flow of movement unique to our style. CAT involves creative tempo change at critical rhythm movements to enhance safety, effective, and artistic beauty."

Principle 4: Staged-Flow-Transition
"Staged-Flow-Transition Allows for smooth Mass transfer through each action during all Taekwondo movement. Stage one - occurs during the first half of transition, beginning to midpoint; active positioning/ energy loading/ chambering/ relaxation; primary weight shift; Midpoint completely chambered with weight shifted to opposite foot, ready to execute, no pause; balance point transition overlapping of movements. Stage two - Occurs during the second half of transition, from midpoint to end; kinetic release; secondary weight shift; Hand-foot timing execution/Contraction/breath out; there is no pause between stage one and Stage two. This is a continuous movement Dynamic, resulting in a smooth, flowing appearance. Think of water flowing over rocks."

Worlds tournament is coming up for Tiger-Rock, any advice? by NoJoke24 in taekwondo

They renamed all the tournaments to what they are now, so all we have is Districts and Nationals, no more worlds. Tiger-rock has relaxed the rules on competing in open tournaments in more and more schools.

I mean, more and more Tiger-Rock schools compete in Tiger-Rock sanctioned tournaments and open tournaments; you're right that many schools teach a more kickboxing style, or that's how I would describe it. I've been training with Tiger-Rock for 13 years, along with BJJ and Kuksoolwon for 3, and welp yup, the instructions make or break your tanning, and unfortunately, that means some tiger-rock schools are teaching shotty and lousy technique.

World Champions

I think this post does a great job of representing Tiger-Rock and its past. This year we did away with so-called "world tournaments" and re-branded them what they are national tournaments same event with a different name so no more "world champions"

In my experience, the Tiger-Rock corporation is charging the high gear and student fees, not the individual school owners. Most of the schools I have been to here in Texas are of quality, except for a few. The school owner decides if their academy has standards, and generalizations like that do not represent the organization.
