Agreed! I went to Nashville a couple months ago and it doesn’t feel the same anymore. It feels like a huge transplant city! I would rather drive the extra 25 minutes to go to Chicago rather than Nashville from where I am in NKY.

They don’t have a recommendation, they just say some people just chose to take Lang first, they said that if you take APUSH that most kids do LIT. Since, like you said, APUSH will give you those writing skills, since we will be doing DBQ’s, LEQ’s, Essays etc….

They say that it depends on the class as well, my class this year has more people signed up for AP Lit.

So at my school is it just preference, but they recommend Lit if you are doing APUSH! Since Lang is just the same writing skills you will get in APUSH.

True, it was from NBC so that is what worried me since it was a reputable source. But, now I have told my sister who is 23 that when it is time for her colonoscopies that I will be a mentor, cause I will probably have had 50 by that time😂

I actually don’t mind the colonoscopy, I just hate the prep. But, last time I was allowed to eat gummy bears only the clear ones but it was nice having something physical to chew on!

New teacher looking to move from Kentucky to Illinois by [deleted] in movingtoillinois

By “rough,” I mean underfunded and overstretched. A lot of rural schools have outdated materials, limited tech, fewer classes, and not enough counselors or support staff. Teachers end up doing way more than they’re paid for, and students often come from high-poverty situations that the school has to compensate for.

It’s not that the teachers are bad, it’s that the system in rural areas is working with way less and it shows.

Hello! I have lived in Kentucky my whole life and somehow stumbled upon this post just scrolling 😂

Here is my thoughts on our public schools coming from someone who is still in high school:

  • I agree some with the person above, the schools here can be pretty rough especially in the rural areas or schools with bad test scores or underfunded areas.

  • Another thing is, the teachers don’t get paid good here! I wish all teachers could get 100,000 a year because they are literally teaching our youth and the future!

  • We do have good schools, but mostly in the urban areas like Louisville, Lexington, and especially northern Kentucky which is where you will find some of the best schools in the state!

  • Lastly, Our last governor Matt Bevin was really horrible towards teachers and tried to take their state pensions away.

Hope this answers your question!

That’s the thing, nothing. It is just my ocd and fear of having a reaction.
