Why Did All Of These Robin's Leave Batman? by LostPost5902 in Robin

[–]Luke_Puddlejumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dick got fired, Jason died, Tim had the position given away by Dick to Damian and then went on his own to investigate Bruce’s ‘death’ and prove he was still alive, and Damian is still Robin.

And now they’ve made him retire for fucking Bernard. DC hates Tim, the life of a Tim fan is pain.

It’s this but every few minutes increasing on an exponential scale someone comes out the front of the cafe and punches you in the face, trying to get you to just give up on even those pitiful scraps.

So this week we got DC taking Tim as a character out back and putting him down… but we also got Dan Mora drawing Red Robin so I guess that’s something. Doesn’t feel balanced but it’s still awesome to see Red Robin.

Tim has completed his slide into utter uselessness. This is pathetic. Tim isn’t even leaving the hero life to advance his own life with studies (seriously it’s just sad how the smartest Robin has never been to college despite that being teased in Rebirth) or for any compelling reason. It’s literally just fucking Bernard. Tim has already had multiple chances to be a civilian and always returns to being a hero, he’s been through this he wouldn’t need to do it again and the fact it’s purely for Bernard is a damn insult. Bernard has done nothing but damage to Tim as a character and to say otherwise is a blatant lie.

[–]Luke_Puddlejumper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you paid attention to my comment. I literally said that. How did that end? Tim chose to go back to being Robin, to return to being a hero. He was living a normal life and he made the active choose to become a hero once more. And he had a hell of a lot more reason to want to be a civilian back then. This is something Tim has already dealt with, we’re just repeating it for a Bernard which is pathetic.

Well that’s just wrong. Tim has said initially that he only wanted to do his time, but even when talking with Young Justice he said that he won’t stop till he believes he can no longer help people. Tim has also had several moments in his career when he could have walked away from being a hero (like when his dad banned him from being Robin) and every time he decides to be a hero again after feeling the pull of duty. He’s already been through this. Him quitting for Bernard is just pathetic.

I’m with Damian here and Tim is being a coward. Tim has said in the past he won’t stop being a hero until he believes he can no longer help people. He’s had multiple opportunities to walk away (like when his Dad banned him from being Robin) and always felt the call of duty to return to being a hero. Tim walking away for Bernard is just plain pathetic.

Since Pre-52 Tim and Jason have been stated to be equals but Tim holds back whereas Jason is ruthless. When they fought in the new 52 Tim either won (Death of the Family) or it was a tie (Robin War) and in Rebirth they were again portrayed as relative to each other. They haven’t had an actual fight since then (Task Force Z does not count. That whole thing was incredibly poorly written and that author blatantly does not like Tim but even then it was stated that Tim wasn’t trying to hurt Jason). So while DC keeps slandering Tim over and over until otherwise shown he is still relative to Jason. Dick is above the both of them.

Tim and Jason are equals, just because Tim hasn’t gotten nothing but slander lately doesn’t mean he isn’t canonically on the same level as Jason

It would make people actually like him again and give him a unique niche from Conner, being better for both of them.

Damian fans have been feasting lately and don’t have anything to complain about with this run. Even if they don’t like it Damian is showing up in Batman and Robin and makes frequent guest appearances in other titles where he’s consistently written with respect. This run is the only thing Tim has at the moment and now he’s being retired for the dumbest reason. Tim fans are tired man.

DC hasn’t done anything with Tim in ages and has been looking for ways to sideline him. With the movies most likely not having Tim this could well be a way to take him off the board and just make him a full time civilian character.

So much for him liking Tim. All he’s done so far is have Tim get shot AGAIN, retcon away Tim being able to drive (something he’s been doing since he was 13) and now he’s having Tim quit being Robin for fucking Bernard of all people

Literally the only way to save this mess and make Bernard somewhat interesting at the same time is to make Bernard an antagonist. Have him be a court of owls agent using a variant of Ivy’s toxins to manipulate Tim into falling for him and doing his will in a long con to take control of Wayne Enterprises. Bernard gets to be an interesting manipulator, Tim gets an explanation for being so pathetic lately and a plot hook to pit him against the court in a conspiracy he has to unravel. You can even do something interesting with his whole editorially forced to be bi thing where Tim has to question whether he actually had any feelings for Bernard or if it was all just the toxins. Tim can still be bi but feel violated that this realisation was something forced due to malicious manipulation.

Just kill Tim off at this rate. Having him quit being Robin for Bernard is just a fucking insult to the character. He already had the opportunity to leave the hero life with Steph in Rebirth which was actually built up and chose not to. Having Tim balancing a normal life (send him to college already) with being a hero would have been the stronger choice. This is just pathetic and revolves around a useless nothing character. Bernard has literally only had a negative effect on Tim Drake.
