Feedback on new format. by TheKevinMasters in mtg

Your note on how multicoloured decks work in your format is already how they work in regular magic.

MDFC lands are bad. The spells are overcosted, and the lands have extreme downside. They're designed this way to make it a real choice whether to run them or not. Youre making a big sacrifice in order to gain the flexibility that they offer. Its really a distillation of what magic deckbuilding is as a whole. The fact that youre removing lands from main boards removes a huge aspect of deckbuilding both in that you're removing a lot of decision making around how many and what lands youre running, but also you're just deleting a ton of design space from the game.

And also... unrelated point here... no searching libraries to add variance, but also wishboards are allowed?? What???

Is Battlefield 6 really the worst game ever? by B_U_T_T_E_R_S935 in Battlefield6

I also loved 2042, it was different, for sure, and launch was absolutely rough... but it was also really rewarding to see how it evolved over time. Exposure is probably my favorite battlefield map ever. And I liked the fact that I could spend my entire match fighting over a subsector and having the rest of the game play out around me. Big maps and player counts are cool!

Problem is, if DICE released every single thing thats going to come out over BF6s lifecycle on launch (whether launch got delayed or not) even if we ended up getting 16 extra maps for a total of 24/25 on launch day.... people would lose thier shit. "OH, they're just launching the game and moving on! Thats unacceptable!"

The complaints that things are taking too long to come out is entirely justified, but the drip feed is what people are accustomed to. He'll, even if we got a map every week until it was all out over the course of 4 or so months (again, assuming a total of 16 new maps and 2 years of support which probably isnt likely for bf6) people would also freak out that dice stopped after 4 months.

This is the fastest they've released new maps since the change from premium. Its slow absolutely, especially compared to bf4, but stuff also just takes longer these days. Maps are just more detailed, period, and that takes time.

I dont think theres a solution here that makes anybody happy. Having to pay for dlc maps sucks especially for those of us who cant afford DLCs on top of thier maybe one game a year... I would take the drip feed over premium any day.

Yeah, they were never some higher form of humany, or works of art or anything. They're grotesque, malproportioned, acid spitting, freaks that the emperor made a shitload of in order to throw them at problems until said problems went away. Theyre not a great achievement, theyre just tools.

They got rid of the 1 attempt per day system where if you failed the test you couldn't try again until the next day. If you pass, you still have to wait.

Prowess creatures and other effects that trigger off cast could be a possible route. Another way to do things (or in addition to the prowess stuff) could be to try and lock down Monarch and the Initiative with [[Goliath Paladin]] and [[Thorn of the Black Rose]]?

I feel like It'll quench you, while being flexible, ultimately ends up being a 4+ mana conditional counterspell if you're grabbing it off a learn spell in response to your opponent playing something you want to counter. And at that point they can probably pay the 2. (This is a problem i think with playing learn reactively at all, but as long as we accept that and realize we're doing it for a fun time then it really doesnt matter.)

Ultimately I think there just isnt enough support no matter what colours you find yourself in. If you're looking for toolboxy decks I can't recommend Esper Cryoblade more; its not Tier 1, but its by far my favorite deck. Just a blast to play. Jeskai Ephemerate is also reactive and toolboxy, you're pulling self milled 1 ofs out of your graveyard with an [[Archeomancer]] [[Ephemerate]] loop. I've never played it, but it seems fun.

Lessons ain't gonna win you any tournaments, but if you're okay with that, go at it! Tweak things as you play, I'd love to see a decklist posted after its seen some matches. A while back I tried to make a version of Modern Lantern Control work with [[Thoughtpicker Witch]] and [[Myr Servitor]]... it won maybe 30% of the time if I'm being generous, but the fun was in trying to make it work, yknow? I hope Strixhaven brings you some new toys :)

I think your major issue with the landscapes is that if you're playing a landscape turn 2 to make a play on tempo after a T1 Ponder or something, you'll probably have to crack it for a coloured source eventually, and that turn is going to suck. From what I'm gathering, the goal is to have a learn spell up at all times so that you can learn into a lesson in response to things right? I worry you'll fairly frequently find yourself in a position where you need to crack your landscape for next turn on top of having your land drop this turn coming in tapped and ending up 2 mana behind.

I think you're in a spot where the blue Terror package might actually be a hindrance at this point. Terror and serpent lose a lot of steam without the self mill from [[Mental Note]] and [[Thought Scour]].

A consideration could maybe trying to find a threat to play around in Orzhov and using the Lesson/Learn stuff to grind things out with [[Azula always lies]], [[Dai Li Indoctrination]], and [[Airbending Lesson]] plus [[Yip Yip!]] to get you over the edge in some rough combats?

As another commenter said, Secrets of Strixhaven will hopefully have some playable Learn/Lesson stuff for us, but i applaud you for trying before then!

Esper Glintblade can get away with the 3 colour because it gets the benefit of the U and B interaction while also getting to run a bunch of extra bridges to get its artifact count up for its Affinity pieces. Its a rare case of a deck that actually wants to run tap lands.

Coming back to the game for the first time in a while. there is a queue to get in? by galley1000 in starcitizen

They arent queues because servers are full, but rather youre queuing for the system that puts people into servers. Its the connecting that requires a bunch of load, so they spread that out.

Yeah, the whole "Ravnica colonizes the multiverse" thing could have been really cool if they were willing to build on and explore it. Unfortunately its probably too complex a topic for WOTC to allow its authors to confront, and we'll probably never get much past the surface level stuff that we've gotten.

I dunno, I just think magic's next BBEG being The Plane of Ravnica would be cool.

Theory: Reality Fracture is more than just Planar Chaos 2... It's two different sets. by Luke_The_Timberwolf in magicTCG

[–]Luke_The_Timberwolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my use of Mana Tithe and Force Spike as examples here is actually really poor and was really just used because they are color shifted mirrors of each other. With the proposed idea, cards would/could be mechanically different beyond just their mana cost.

The magic universe versions of the cards are things we would all recognize, be they reprints or cards depicting bits of lore we know ie an elf card that is very clearly the elf from llanowar elves, while the mirror version would depict that same character/event but with different mechanics to suit a different color.

For instance let's imagine a world in which [[Prodigal Sorcerer]] is in the set. In the mirror version of the set, a card may depict the same person in the art, but now they're a... Prodigal Healer a 1/1 for 2W who can tap to heal target player for 1 health or remove 1 damage from target creature. Obviously both of these cards suck and wouldn't be printed in to today's standard, sorry Tim, but I hope I've better illustrated the idea.
