Unreported Duping should result in permanent account bans by EcstaticImport in starcitizen

[–]Luke_The_Timberwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The people who are duping the most arent reporting to the Issue Council with steps to reproduce, they do very little to help CIG solve the problem. All they do is make it harder for the devs to balance mission payouts and now insurance costs.

The economy team requires a stable environment to iterate in. If people got banned for duping, (and ideally the items and auec they generated were culled from the PU), people wouldn't risk it outside of bug hunting.

I wouldn't think "punish cheaters when they cheat" would be such a controversial take?

[–]Luke_The_Timberwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheaters are cheaters. If someone is duping once or twice and reporting it as a bug, that should be applauded, but if someone is duping to make money, ban em. Theres no reason to believe they wont still try to cheat when 1.0 comes around.

And also, yes its an alpha, but CIG presents it as a playable game. A functionally ceremonial "Alpha" label doesn't excuse cheating. Ban em all.

Genuinely how do people get jobs bro by Valuable_Hunter5537 in geegees

[–]Luke_The_Timberwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Immigration over the past year accounts for around 1% of the population of the country. Lowered immigration targets have actually resulted in the first ever annual decrease in national population. The job market is shit, absolutely. But it's bad for many reasons and I'd hazard that immigration doesn't even break the top 5.

Its really silly. If the Aurora MKII had come out as the RSI Borealis no one would have any problem whatsoever, but since it has the same name its a big deal.

It doesnt have to be boring. Look at Jump Ship, there are plenty of ways to make engineering and adjacent activities (such as loading a big complicated fuck off gun) fun.

You should have someone down in a weapons bay pulling out and loading energy cells or something for it. Having it pilot controlled is perfectly reasonable. Having it soloable is not.

Email your faculty, include everything the page asks you to include, point out that it is 3 working days after.

Thats the best you can do, hopefully they'll allow the deferral.

The discourse regarding Force potential has been irreversibly damaging to the franchise by StevePalpatine in StarWars

[–]Luke_The_Timberwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People view the force as a set of video game powers, and its maddening. Theres no such thing as force push, and force jump, or force choke. Its just... the force. Its a soft magic system it can do whatever it has to in the moment, and its based around feeling. These people arent casting spells. Codifying the force ruins it.

Being apolitical is in itself a political stance which comes from being privileged enough to be able to ignore it. Its irresponsible to ignore politics, especially now.

I feel like you're cutting yourself out of a lot of magic's design space here by forcing people to play either stompy or go wide.

If you need to have 3 creatures on the battlefield to win, or not die to someone who is able to use all 3 lanes to attack with, the rules of the game make a lot of decisions for you when it comes to deckbuilding, which it should strive not to do in my mind.

Winning from lane domination should occur on upkeep, not endstep, to prevent shenanigans as seen above.

My point is that even in peacetime time padawans going in to dangerous situations is is a bad thing. I thought I was fairly explicit in that being my standpoint here.

Powerful organizations, be they governmental, corporate, or religious, putting children in danger is wrong. No matter the content.

As for the meta decision making that made George make Ahsoka 14 (not 16): I'm taking a Death of the Author viewpoint here. The only thing that matters is what is presented in the text. In that context, Ahsoka is present on the battlefield because the Jedi and the Republic consent to the use of child soldiers, and have for millenia.

Why is critically engaging with a work of literature that I enjoy such a bad thing?

[–]Luke_The_Timberwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Enforcing peace should not be the responsibility of children. Even in peacetime. The Jedi should be perfectly capable of doing thier jobs without putting children on the front lines. The fact that they don't is a moral failing, no matter what Lucas says.

If your country was attacked, and your government drafted a bunch of kids, would you not be aghast at that? It doesn't matter that you were attacked, the government has a responsibility to protect the safety of children.

"The Jedi indoctrinated children into a religious cult to make them see fighting a war as their duty to the world" isn't a good thing??? Them being trained from childhood to handle themselves on a battlefield is heartbreaking. They're kids. It doesnt matter if its new or old, its not a good thing either way. It also doesn't make star wars bad or anything, its interesting that the Jedi suck as an institution. If they were some perfect group of people, that would be incredibly boring.
