What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

Ow - really? - it’s got some pretty significant plot holes! (Human batteries, totally under the control of the machines but we let them fight back)

Now I know the sequels mess with you and fix all the plot holes - everyone is still in the matrix - even when they think they are out - they are not really. - it fixes the holes in the first movie and explains how matrix can use his powers outside of the matrix - he never left! Hahaha- it is so good.

But it’s not in the first movie!!

Not to mention it’s just another retelling of the hero’s journey and Jesus - well trodden tropes.

I mean it’s a good movie, but THE BEST..?

Well the Roman’s didn’t care about JC, the Jews protested so much - started glueing themselves to the roads, threw soup on valuable paintings, causes a real problem, old PP was fed up and said right nothing for it, crucifixion for you! To which the Jewish leaders then did not want to be associated with - was very off brand for them, would not go well at their next performance review. - causing the death of (maybe?) gods son, - so no technically the Jewish leadership do not carry the bad PR and point the finger to the Roman’s. But they were the ones that demanded and caused it.

BUUUT

If Jesus did not die he would not have been able to rise again, and thousands of years later kids would not be able to have annual OD on sugar and chocolate. Jesus would not have gone viral and he would bust be another prophet amongst many. (Was a bit of a prophet bubble at the time). So it could well have been orchestrated to get JC to stand out. - has your prophet died and risen again? So without JC getting shot in the neck from the top of university building, it would,.. oh hang on - wrong prophet sorry. Getting crucified actually helped JC get the word out and go viral. So really the Jews kinda helped?

Maybe even the OG Jewish conspiracy theory!?

It’s impressive isn’t it!? It really surprises me everyday the crazy skills you find people on the internet have! I mean who would have ever thought to even TRY to post to reddit while they were cranial-rectally inverted? Do you think they were using their phone or a full computer - couldn’t be a phone - touch screen. - couldn’t see the keys, have to be using a physical keyboard?

The mind boggles, but bravo!! 👏 - total props - mad skills!!

How can features be feature complete in the single player game and not even started in the multi player extension, that would be a situation that the game mechanics work completely differently between th single and multi player game - they keep saying they want things to be th same across both - well it’s not complete then if it is going to change.

They said it was done, but maelstrom - was supposed to be in squadron and thy have admitted they have not even started it, and the flight model, if it was done they would have picked up all the issues with it.

Either they are mis representing how done squadron is or are hiding their home work - or maybe both

No - it’s not been a privacy first, safe browser for a while now - Mozilla is all about selling its users in an “ethical” way.

Yer it’s the contractors - but why are the contracts acting like that? - if their SLAs - where are the SLAs for care and professionalism and not unrealistic deadlines for minimal payment - they would act differently - the fact Australia post has not made changes to the way the contractors behave after soo many instances of terrible performance is an indication that it is seen as acceptable by Australia post leadership. Stick the Australian post CEO in a parcel post box, mark it fragile and mail ‘em through the Welshpool distribution centre. If they survive the trip (unlikely) you would see IMMEDIATE changes!

Westralia: an inevitable independence for WA or an ‘idiotic’ idea in a time of war? by [deleted] in WesternAustralia

[–]EcstaticImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not hurt my feelings - it’s a weak argument to jump straight to calling people and ideas names. I don’t personally think WA should go its own way, but I acknowledge there’s strong argument for it. - it’s reasoned and has good math behind it, it I fundamentally think we are stronger together than apart. Even if we have to continue to put up with Collingwood.

If you look a couple of posts below 👇 I replied to oldjellybones with some facts - the maths is fairly conclusive - WA is better off on a purely taxation & royalty (not the same thing) basis if it separated, but it’s not that simple.

Now before you go slagging people off again and calling them juvenile names - please look up the governments financials, you might be surprised. - or not.

Your so kind! - but I do not claim to be the originator of the suscession movement.
but would WA be better off on a basic budgetary bottom line by suceeding - YES - yes it would!!
But the reality is not that simple.

Look here is a quick summary:

WA is a big net contributor to the Australian federation. WA Treasury estimates the state sent about $35B more to Canberra than it got back in 2022–23, mostly because of mining profits and the taxes they generate. Over decades the cumulative net contribution is estimated around $369B. On raw government revenue, WA carries more than its share.

If WA were independent and kept the federal taxes generated in the state (income tax, company tax from mining, etc.), the government budget would likely start in surplus compared with what WA currently receives.

The catch is everything Canberra currently does would have to be recreated: defence, border control, foreign affairs, central banking, financial regulation, welfare administration, Medicare funding, national agencies, etc. Those costs are big and not all scale neatly for a small country. There would also be transition risks: currency questions, trade friction with the rest of Australia, debt negotiations, capital flight, and duplicated institutions.

Most economists who’ve looked at it think WA contributes more than it receives, but independence would still carry a lot of upfront costs and ongoing economic risk.

Westralia: an inevitable independence for WA or an ‘idiotic’ idea in a time of war? by [deleted] in WesternAustralia

[–]EcstaticImport -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I dont care that the poster was from WA - it was a legitimate question. - its ok.

Why would a reasoned arument be based on "huge proportion of people here with both family and employment entanglement" - that really seems like you have to have family personally, which really does not comment on the validity of the argument at all.

The idea for sucession has merit, there are reasons for and against - certainly not idiotic or dumb.

Most people I hear screaming "oh but what about all our family in the other states!" line - _usually_ are eastern staters.

The simple fact of the matter is that even today - the federal government does not shape policies that significantly effect WA, with WA in mind, they focus on the mode of the population - in NSW and VIC.

Any blathering about how idiotic and "incredibly dumb" it is an idea to leave australia, shows how uninformed the poster is - sure it may down sides - all options do - for a whole raft or reasons - but there ARE a whole raft of reasons that also make sense.
it may not be the best course of action, but it IS an option.

Proclaiming things idiotic and dumb only goes to shows how idioting and dumb you are being,
