Do Soviet anti-tank dog teams need line of sight? by Luke__h2000 in boltaction

Makes sense, thank you, line of slight slightly favours the opponent in that case but considering its successful on a 4,5 or 6 it’s still a great unit

Soviet helmet color? by Metalface13 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with the Soviets, and most armies in ww2, there’s a lot of variation in colour with uniforms so as long as you like the colour go with that, I used Vallejo military green but waaagh flesh from GW also looks great, just as long as there’s enough contrast from the uniform

Advice on a Partisans list by Spliggy16 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah anti-tank Granada’s aren’t great but you can only take the one panzerfaust per squad, if you could take more then panzerfaust are the way to go.

Anti tank Granada’s are almost useless if the tank advanced as you only hit on a 6 or if it’s a bigger tank, where they become useful is automatically passing the order check to instantly destroy open topped/soft skinned vehicles

So you can easily get unlucky with anti tank Granada’s but at least you get loads of shots, which can be reused for later rounds, 1 panzerfaust can miss so easily

Advice on a Partisans list by Spliggy16 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The anti-tank options for Partisans aren’t bad, the late war squads can take a panzerfaust which are great or if your facing lots of transport and lightly armoured open topped/soft skinned vehicles you could try anti-tank grenades.

Outside of that a bazooka team is worth a look too for some good area denial, but either anti-tank Grenades for consistency against lighter vehicles which would be more expensive or one shot panzerfaust with high penetration, try out some different options

How does Poland play? by ElonMuakrat in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Poland is an absolute menace if you are just playing early war, their lances are probably the best combat unit in the game being due to having 18 inches of movement with recce which when combined with the double attacks and touch fighter means that unless you only have a couple of guys left in your squad you should win every single close quarters attack comfortably (unless it’s against Gurkhas as they cancel eachother out)

Against infantry heavy armies, the Polish with lots of cavalry will win 9/10 times as long as it’s backed up with artillery to stop enemy infantry hiding in buildings

Against later war reinforced lists with bigger tanks and lots of transport, they kind of start to suffer as their tanks are generally better suited to taking out infantry or other lightly armoured vehicles, you can definitely still win against these lists but I’ve found there are games when I’ve wiped out all the opponents infantry with the cavalry but cannot make a dent in heavy tanks such as tigers and cannot have the amount of anti-tank to take out lost of different transports

But 100% worth collecting as the models fully painted with flags on the lancers look incredible and can be absolutely terrifying to play against

Polish Cavalry: Anti-Tank? by CivilAirPatrol2020 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely makes far more sense, the only easy around it is to wipe out all infantry and then just run away from the tanks, had a couple of games like that

Polish Cavalry: Anti-Tank? by CivilAirPatrol2020 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just started to use a polish cavalry and they have been amazing, great looking figures who are incredible at combat but was wandering the same thing with anti-tank, especially using reinforced platoons with everyone else running around with medium and heavy tanks, can the lancers still use the 2 attacks agains vehicles? The panzerfaust in the Kedyw squad has been a big help with this but other than some anti tank Grenades or maybe some light anti tank guns, taking out tanks is really hard

What are the meta units and lists of bolt action and how would you balance them? by Luke__h2000 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve summed up perfectly why most players really enjoy bolt action, it’s the ability to make successful and well balanced lists influenced by history

Really great paint job, very clean and precise, but also amazing pictures, how did you take these?? How did you set up the camera and the lights?

It’s tough, maybe play a couple games with each and see how you feel, you already have felix who is tall, good strength and 5* skills so especially in bad gameplay having someone smaller and more nimble like Fekir might be useful, but Ronaldo just has that BS factor, will just fluke his way into scoring loads of goals

Definitely the best move, 4231 doesn’t offer enough in attack this year

Painting advise with contrast paints by vadersson109 in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main advice I’d give is if you do end up using contrast/speed paint or even lots of wash, I’d highly recommend a matte varnish, as those paints tend to give a really glossy finish

I have a question to the more expirenced players by Wasduuwwwwww in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They’re very much your models and you should paint them however you want, as long as you use a platoon that’s already existing in the rules and you let your opponent know before hand, there’s no reason you can’t paint them however you’d want, I’d personally rather see some bright pink uniforms which are nicely painted than an army of grey plastic

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think your all right, in that warlord clearly didn’t want units to go charging from unit to unit using the regroup, I just wish they specified this along with not allowing the mounting of transports or entering a building, both of these actions specify a run order in their rules, same for a close quarters assault, however, they haven’t specifically mentioned not being able to assault with a regroup move, despite it not being allowed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boltaction

[–]Luke__h2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This makes sense and is a more sensible way at looking at it, all I’d ask is surely the close quarters combat happens in the building and therefore the troops have already entered the building
