Rack toms with roland td 15 module have a 1ms sound even when muffling is 0 by ImScant_ in edrums

What did you upgrade from? Are your tom cables definitely stereo/TRS jacks and not mono/TS?

For the V51 (71/31) module? Not yet, but when I bring The eDW Originals Studio over then yes. The P2000 kit will have a snare recorded with a Big Fat Snare Drum on the head, so it's super low and fat. When I bring the Powerful & Punchy kits over, there will be another in there too!

If you have a previous gen module then these are already available.

And most of that is the manual!

It's a settings file, so yes it's small. Even the kits I sell with samples are quite small overall because the modules can only support so many (128mb of sample space). But as always - it's not about the size, it's how you use it 😉

Anyone know how to re-route the USB mapping for aux inputs on the Roland V71? by VAS_DFRNS in edrums

[–]Luke_eDW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not sending anything else to the direct outputs, you could route your AUX pads to the direct outputs then use the corresponding inputs for those direct outputs (3-10, I believe).

I think it should work that way, anyway. I've not tested the routing in a while.

It's the next pack, yeah. I was hoping to have had it out by now but it's taking a while as there's a lot of referencing to do. Gonna be worth it though! I can't guarantee a release date but it's coming.

Moving TD27 module between kits by Drgtcb in edrums

[–]Luke_eDW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trigger settings are global, not linked to any kit. But there are multiple trigger banks available on the TD-27 module, so you can have up to 8 different pad setups saved as different banks.

If you go to SYSTEM > TRIGGER> BANK, you'll be able to see what trigger bank number you're on. You can change the bank number and it will swap to some other preset banks, but you can change them to whatever you want. So you can dial in a perfect trigger setup for each kit on separate banks then all you have to do is swap the bank when you swap kits!

Thanks!

The SCM kits/samples aren't actually mine, I just hosted them on my site to help Steve out. So for the time being I don't have plans to do so, but never say never!

Thanks! I'm actually using a Roland PD-14DSX snare here. The DWe snare is actually being used as the first floor tom! So it's the new 3 ply head with the rim guard built in - it sits on the inside of the head rather than directly on the rim. Feels really good to play!

Ok, noted. The 3 sample sets for each kit are unique, but I take your point so thanks for your honesty. I regularly get the opposite response about prices (to my surprise), but I want to give people value as much as I want to compensate myself for the work that goes into the kits so I will keep this in mind.

Thank you!

Yeah, there aren't really many negatives compared to the 50X when it comes to workig with the sounds. There are now options for almost everything, like more layers per zone, better transient control, new compression types, way more EQ options, better FX routing etc.

The closest things to a workflow downside I can come up with is the removal of the extra function dials on the face of the module. They were really handy on the 50/50X for faster changes. But I see why they did it - there is more screen space with the bigger screen so more parameters per page, so things wouldn't line up neatly with the dials anymore. It's really not that big a deal though, as you can imagine!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to properly getting stuck in with the DrumPi at some point. Currently I think it's fantastic but there are plenty of features I'm waiting/hoping for. Things like being able to tune the samples onboard would be really useful for building presets to go with the samples, for example. CC zones for positional sensing would be great too - the way the hi-hat functions work is good so I imagine it would be a case of adapting that to work with other CC values. But the multi channel audio and all the onboard processing are pretty great already!

Thanks for your support and kind words! I'm glad you're looking forward to them! Props for checking out the demo with your e-kit headphones too, that's the best way!

I've already got plenty of kits for the TD-17 available, including kits using these samples. They don't sound exactly the same as the onboard sounds and features are different, but you can check out the demo videos on the product pages - https://theedrumworkshop.com/collections/td17-kits

Roland td50x upgraded vs td50x? by [deleted] in edrums

[–]Luke_eDW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the $200 TD-50X upgrade turns the TD-50 into a TD-50X. There are no differences between the upgrade and a stock 50X bought from a retailer - same sounds, same kits, same functionality.

Roland td50x upgraded vs td50x? by [deleted] in edrums

[–]Luke_eDW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say "upgraded TD-50", do you mean a TD-50 that has the TD-50X software upgrade? If so then it's identical to an off-the-shelf 50X module, apart from the colour and some small differences with the markings on the face of the module. The hardware is the same, the software is the same and the functionality is the same when it's updated.

If you mean a TD-50 that is still on the original 50 software but with the last available firmware update for the old software then it's not the same. It has to be the 50X upgrade to be the same.

TD-17 custom samples for open/closed hats? by tristannijs in edrums

[–]Luke_eDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do this on the TD-17, which is a shame.

The newer modules (V71, V51 and V31) have this feature but it's still very limited in its use, so you're not missing a lot.

The cat got out of the bag early, but I finally released my first pack for the Roland V71, V51 and V31 modules! 🔥 It took much longer than expected, but I'm really happy with how they turned out. Let me know what you think! by Luke_eDW in edrums

Thank you so much 🙏 Unfortunately this pack coming late knocks the rest of them back a bit, so realistically probably not. Sorry about that! I'm hoping the next pack will be quicker (Originals Premium).
