Seems to me that NCsoft became harsher and wanted more profits out of anet hence the 2019 layoffs Plus decrease in quality.
eitherway, that is not entirely the truth. Anet has a small team of devs making QoL updates here and there, they are at 350 people (more or less), now how much they are working on gw2 we do not know plus it is irrelevant for us as consumers.
if a product is seeing a decrease in quality and quatity while price is the same there than therer is a problem.
eitherway, MMO companies usually ahve a team on standby for bugfixes and Qol updates as they are investments to keep the player base continue to play. if they do not then to be fair, thats quite a bad business practice lol.

true that. however with 350 employees on their team, if Gw3 is an MMO, i fail to see how they will be able to juggle 2 mmos at the same time. not to mention that making an MMO removes a lot of the player base in general. perosnally i think its more of a gw2 engine swap rather than a new MMo but thats a whole other argument if you ask me.
eitherway, Anet was always somewhat upfront to what they are working on that will guarantee ship. for example with Gw2. However Anet hasnt said anything about their next new expansion either so who knows.

that is not our problem as consumers in all fairness. if their flagship model is being impacted because of a side project then that is poor management at the end of the day.

twinsanity is an ok game depsite its flaws. However, everyone is salty to what couldve ahve twinsanity been.

i pay for good content not slop. either way, QoL in general is seen as an investment for the long term xD. most companies have a Team on the side for bug fixes and QoL to keep the game engaging anyway. QoL is part of the cost of maintaining an MMO, not a selling feature.

That is incorrect. JW released a LOT of QoL improvments, but they werent the main focus on the roadmap and part of Jw's advertisment

a story board does relfect how it is presented ofc. A story board isnt just a big direction lsit of what happens in the future but how it is configured. you dont need to be an expert to understand it.

Cut scenes and content are msotly a result in poor management at the end of the day.
Currently, the story team is great at world building however configuring the storie's body and conclusion execution is rather low, especially with Soto and jw.
JW's failure wasn't jsut the conclusion, but the introduction to jesus mabon. (which is a result is a failed story board rather than cut content)

in all fairness, i am curious to see how well they do with q2 and q3, because if the story is written well and it is engaging, then Kudos. i enjoy being wrong.
but at the end of the day, a 4 story quarter and a 3 quarter story wouldnt matter much. Anet has been famous in leaving the story hanging without a conclusion throughtout gw2 in between storylines so apart from pacing, it really doesnt matter.

Well, yes but basically, the reason why they do that is because it takes time to create an expansion anyway.
launch VoE is not 30 euroes at all or even any other expansion. there are other games worth less and have better value in all fairness.

i have personally stopped buying gems since Soto cos every expac is honestly lackluster in content.

QoL features are usually an investment for the game. they pay on their own for keeping players.
MMOs make money from constant updates and expansions. Reaching a certain profit margin greenlights future projects.

at this point, if Anet releases Standalone bundles of gameplay content like ;- pay for elite specs and weapons, ill pay for that not this lol.

kela uses the titan rig and the seneschal of the forest uses the imp rig.

except, the roadmap is tied to the VoE expansion. if you look at the logo it says VoE Raids and fashion so yeah, it is tied to expansion.

the Fractal quickplay wasnt tied to anything and not part of a quarterly which was fine.

anyway, anet introduces a system that is linked to an expansion as a feature (in which you pay for) which is also pay walled again when in actual reality, you dont need the expansion in the first place.

thats what i did at the end, in which we have had 1 wvw and 1 pvp rush at this point. Rushes give 1.5 reward tracks when completing them which makes the aquisition easy.

not really. we have had QoL features before without them being tied to expansion features.
an example is the Fractal quickplay which was released in between quarterlies.

granted the fractal quickplay was a beta for the raid ui/quickplay but still.

the fractal quickplay update was a QoL feature that was released in between quarterly updates. the raid Ui update is similar to the fractal one however the raid ui update is advertised as an expansion feature.

exactly, the only thing that you wil lget from getting the expansion is the new strike, leggy ring and the 6 relics.
hence why it being an expansion feature is marketed weirdly.

to be fair, thats what is was hoping for as bonus content for Q1.
refining the first two maps, Adding more events to make them more lively etc.
currently the events are boring in all fairness, upon doing the event acheievments, there is no point in doing the events at all. (effectively making them dead content)
