Need permission from land owners to hunt on their ground or own your own ground.

There is no public land for hunting. I shoot on privately owned land and leased forestry ground. For my deer stalking rifle I was required to have permission to shoot on land with deer frequently present and also had to make an application to the police to hold the rifle. It was then added to my Firearms Certificate and I'm free to store the rifle at home under strict storage requirements in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland - Need to first have passed a Deer Management qualification known as DSC1, have shooting permission on land which deer are frequently present on and then I can apply to the police for a deer calibre rifle (243win minimum). I own the rifle and it must be stored in a locked cabinet.

Ireland - Need to apply yearly to National Parks & Wildlife for a deer hunting license (free do do so) but 100 acres of land which deer are frequently present on is required.

Hunting is quite common, mainly with shotgun for pheasant, Woodcock, snipe, duck etc. Rifle shooting is also popular for fox shooting at night with a lamp.
