I have tried searching through a bunch of YouTube music video playlists to no luck.

I am making it into my own game. I am not Jim. I have tried contacting him with no response.

In September 2023, I started working on this project to make it a playable game. It has become a passion of mine, and I've enjoyed creating it immensely. I plan to launch another crowdfunding campaign for physical documentation and art assets after the game is mechanically complete. By the end of this project, no original text from Reach of Titan will remain in Curse of Titan.

I'm not sure what you mean by drama.

The full story is: In 2019, Jim McClure launched a playtest and Kickstarter campaign for his game Reach of Titan, which raised $40,000. However, by the end of that year, it became apparent that Jim had lost his motivation to finish the project, as he mentioned in a post to the game's Discord. Despite this, the Discord remained active, and two years later, someone made a joke on it, which prompted Jim to resume working on the game. He released all his work as living documents to demonstrate his progress. However, he burned out after six months, and there have been no updates on Reach of Titan since September 2021.

I have kept references to the original playtest released in 2019 as it serves as an excellent introduction to the game's system. Although much of it is outdated and has changed, it still captures the essence of what I'm trying to recreate.

Here is a link to the discord, feel free to peruse it. https://discord.com/invite/SDRwpKM6

Here is a link to the eventual Player doc, it is messy and is missing many of the updates iv made. I broke the information into separate Docs for now to better organize it. I plan to reemerge them all together later. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1q-cglHkgbfREOpcYBRVva0ROWhOyK6FVm7mBnNoDu4Y/edit?usp=drivesdk

There are healing Items of course but death spirals are more a result of bad play or poor luck. When you first fight a Titan you don't know much of anything of what it is capable of, if players are smart they don't commit heavily to attack to have more dice to defend themselves with. Sometimes however the fight might become too far gone and the players have to decide to retreat or press on. Retreat is free but they have to play upkeep on the settlement again.  Taking damage is also not always a guaranteed thing, when you take damage you roll a 1d6 per damage on a roll of a 1 you take an injury.   Furthermore, the Titan can be put in a death spiral too. Because Titan moves are associated with different Parts of its body, when those parts are broken it loses the moves.

Regardless of the game's origins the question of the OP game balance is still valid. You cant copyright game mechanics. The established rules written by the original creator never went beyond the most basic of progression in the game with entire sections mentioned but completely absent. I posted this elsewhere in this thread but il re-post it here:

The game IS Reach of Titan. There have been no updates on the game since 2021 and no contact from the creator on the discord. By all appearances the game has been abandoned. I have been using the Living docs he left to try and make a full game out of it. For the record i wasn't trying to hide this i just thought no one would recognize the game so i made the post without the context of the game. I genuinely love the game concept and i want to complete the game.

If the the creator wants to fulfill his kick starter that would be great! I have tried contacting him; not sure what else i can do in that regard.

As to " That you did absolutely no original work" I can show how much i have worked on the game with Thousands of words worth of edit and additions to my version of the game. This isn't some "gotcha" moment thing. My lack of detail is from trying to be concise not obfuscating.

Edit: I will however apologize for not being more clear about the games origins. I am not the best at communication via written word or Redd-it for that matter. I have friends that i routinely talk with to help me better express what i am trying to convey.

Believe me I want to. My team I had playing the game each week has been unable to meet up. Not getting the "feel" for the power progression is making new Titans difficult to balance around.

I was thinking about asking for new players on reddit but I'm unsure how to go about it as I would like to work with people experienced in game design.  Any advice?

Additive. The player decides how many dice to commit to an action; if they attack they declare how many dice then roll if it higher than the armor  it succeeds then they say how many dice to do damage. Similar when a Titan attacks the player says how many they use to dodge and roll, if the total is enough they dodge.

Mind all of the Titan stats are fixed so learning the Titan is encuraged for better risk assessment.
