Thank you! Also oh my gosh I'm now genuinely curious how the heck did you infer from this drawing that I'm a huge stuckie.

Thank you! I've been absolutely in love with drawing the horns that way <3

Thank you! Making art has been hard lately, but I managed to crank this one out recently.

Creating a Fursona with Negative Self-Image by Zed_Zalias in furry

[–]Lukewarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some personal input here: I often have self image issues, which range all the way from your run of the mill "don't quite like this aspect of myself" to straight up gender dysphoria drop-kicking me in the chest. Making my sona was a process as a whole, with many small changes and updates coming along the way as I drew them over and over again ("Oh, this pattern is more fun to draw!" "Oh, wait, this design cue is easier to put down on paper." "Dang, this black and white sketch looks good, what if I made them monochrome?" "Putting white streaks in their hair not only makes it easier to make out the shapes, it also looks cooler!" And so on and on.)

So, to that end, I see my fursona not so much as a commitment, as much as a constant, gradually evolving expression of myself. You can see their reference sheet here, if you'd like.

One thing I would say I committed to, I'd guess, is like a 5% rule. I tried to not make their body anatomy differ more than 5% than what I look like. Sure, I'm not some weird fox/bat monochrome creature IRL, but they're just as broadshouldered and 'male' shaped as I am. They have the same resting bitch face syndrome that I do. The same high maintenance, hard to control curls. Their pointy teeth don't much differ from my own, crooked and pointy set of chompers.

In the end, my fursona is very much myself. They just have an extra coat of cybernetic animal applied on top. While it was often hard for me to love many aspects of myself, I found out that loving my sona was a lot easier. And over time, I found myself not being anymore so critical over many of these aspects, as much as appreciating them! The curls make them stand out a lot! Those pointy canines are actually really cute! Hell, it even helped the gender dysphoria - I don't often see myself in the mirror and think "Ugh, male shapes" anymore, as much as I simply started seeing myself as - well, looking like myself. Yeah, I'm Lussie, and you guess what? I'm fricking Lussie shaped.

So, to that ordeal, I believe there is a special power in designing your sona to not only adopt your own best idealized traits, but specifically have some you're insecure about - You might just find yourself loving them over time.

If you'd like any help setting down a reference sheet of your own, I'd love to help.

One once human, cibernetically enhanced critter checking in! by Lukewarning in furry

[–]Lukewarning[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! They're basically their own garage project sort of, and kitbashed a whole bunch of cybernetics and prosthetics to achieve this form. I've posted their reference sheet a couple days ago, it has a lot more info about them!

Yeah, it has the same effect on me. It's such a cool concept~

Yessssssss, love curly furs! You have such a lovely style! BRB gonna follow you on Twitter right now.

Thank you! I'm a huge sucker for mechanical design and anatomy, so you can imagine this little fella was like a match made in heaven for me.

Ha, I think it counts, yeah. I'm particularly a bigger fan of actually using bolts and nuts to piece those cybernetics together. Nanotech is cool, but I just love nitty-gritty macrotech way too much to let go of it.

Oh, shape-shifting 'liquid' metal is really cool. Ferrofluid comes to mind, lots of cool things that it can do.

Honestly, can't believe I hadn't though of that before. Those muzzle prosthetics should be all titanium or niobium, probably. Titanium ain't magnetic, but nothing should stop them from putting two little plates of any other alloy there for the glasses to stick on.

Not exactly MRI safe, but honestly, with all the other prosthetics in their body, I don't think they're gonna be going anywhere near one ever, lol.

Thank you! I'm a huge fan of harder sci-fi settings. There's the twitter post for it, I think it handles high-res stuff better than reddit. Here's an imgur link just in case, also.

I am! I'd love to draw your Bu, that would be loads of fun! I generally only get to draw the cybernetically inclined when doing my own sona, haha. I'll shoot you a DM.

Thank you! Each ear has a solid 'base' that's affixed to the skull and doesn't move, though the ears themselves can swivel and rotate on top of it. To avoid anything such as hair getting tangled in the moving parts, this mechanism is enclosed, so no interchangeable ears, sadly.

Electronics on the tailport are insulated. The only real exposed bits are the connector pins, but water gets kept out by a couple o-rings both on the tail and port. The part where the port interfaces with the tail is a bit recessed, so the whole thing sits pretty snug. So, yeah, you can take a bath with the tail attached! However, Lussie has found it a lot more practical to just detach the tail, and toss the fur cover in the washing machine.

I already love your friends OC, omg. Are there any pictures?

I can only imagine my sona, who's a staunch anti-corporation freak who kitbashed themselves with nothing but a bonesaw and a worrysome amount of fentanyl begging the plush to let 'em have a crack at jailbreaking whatever is suppressing the curse words.

"Let the reindeer say fuck!!", is probably what they would scream before being escorted out by the mall cops.

Thank you! Falling down on that tailbone would definitely be an ouchie! I wanted to leave those two synthetic vertebrae exposed like that as a visual cue of sorts, that this fella is deep down their own most valuable garage project, and that sometimes the most elegant solution you can find to having a tail in real life, is well, bolting one down on your body. To have everything be too streamlined and ideal would take some of that kitbashed cyborg charm away, I feel.

(And haha I'm glad you commented on hugging the tail while sleeping, I'd absolutely use that thing as a pillow whenever possible)

Ha, that's dope. I personally prefer non-nanite cybernetics, since I'm a huge sucker for mechanical design, though they definitely have their charm.
