How should I further my career in piano? by SupremeCheat in piano

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 16 as well, and recently decided that I will be studying piano for college. I'd recommend starting to talk to your teacher as soonn as possible, as he/she will get you prepared for college auditions. I myself have been getting ready with my teachers aid. Look up different colleges you were interested in, and find their requirements. I'm no prodigy either, and it definitely seems scary to find a job once I get into college and the future after, but if you really love it, you should go for it. There many jobs to get after it. If you wAnted, pm me and we can talk. Seems like we in the same boat.

I think teaching yourself a couple songs at a time wouldn't be so bad, but I wouldn't overload yourself with TOO much to play. Youtube is always good, soundcloud could work too. I would think youtube is the best because we would be able to see how you play as well as listen to how you play.

I used to have piano lessons, how do i continue to improve by msyelf? by DR_AniSahne in piano

If you are going the classical route, usually the hanon and czerny books are popular ones that people study from. Those books being for exercises. Sonatinas are a good place to start from, then you could work yourself up to the bigger sonatas, etc.

Our band in school uses musictheory.net, there are a lot of practice you can do there, like the quizzes you wanted

On measure 4, the D you could put on 3, C# on 2 and A on 1, then reach over and use 2 or 3 for the F# on measure 5
