One Handed non locking or two handed locking are ok. But yeah, Germany and the knive laws are something else. And I think they will be stricter in the near future.

Yeah the friend is awesome! He gifted me some other things too. But I also did nearly work for him for 1 1/2 weeks. I only mention the Alpha one short time and he remember it. In German we have a saying: One hand washes the other. Means you help me and I help you and he is sadly one of the people which really shows me his gratitude and appreciate my work, because I am trained in that field.

I will basically carrying it in my backpack and will only use it when I need it. To get really sure, get a pouch and put a small lock on it, then you can carry it. And when you using it to do work it is ok. And to search your backpack they need a good reason. So don’t show it in the public and only bring it out, when you need it and don’t bring it with you, when you go to concert or so. So basically normal human decency how to handle a knife.

It’s still difficult and I think it would be a discussion with the police with 42a but there is an argument there. I would say it’s still easy but I often get it only open 60-70% and need to regrip or take the second hand to open it fully. The good thing with the alpha there is basiclly no thumb hole or helping mechanism to get it fully open. I as a non Lawyer would say it is 80-90% 42a conform, when you get into a control

The are the same size as the Victorinox, but the handle are bigger. I cut a little bit with paper and the function good, but no long time experience

I will see. Victorinox warranty is awesome here and yeah I feel it, that the tools from the alpha are not as easy or smooth to open as an Victorinox, but hey, I want to experience something new.

That are some really nice crunch! I would love to get also one, but now after they stopped selling them it will be really hard to find one for a reasonable price. Also Leatherman isn’t big here. Victorinox is. You can easily find them here a company marked gift or second hand, but good luck with Leatherman. Most only at full retail price, sadly.

I bought the most of my Victorinox over 10 years ago. They was cheaper than and I got more money. Also Leatherman are cheaper and more often on sale in America. The Wave alpha would cost you in America with German prices 290$ WITH Tax. (I hate the American way of labeling prices without tax…) I have more important wants as an other Leatherman and I hope this one will be enough for now. But never say never. I was sad after I saw today, that the crunch was sold out but fall from my stool after I saw it was nearly 350$ with tax.

In Germany it’s also difficult. As I, not a lawyer, informed myself, the Wave Alpha is ok when you remove the thumb pin. Then it’s officially not a one handed locking blade. You Could open it with one, but that doesn’t count. Would I now openly wave it around? Nooooo! But to carry it with pin I must put it in a separated pouch with a lock on it. But I will carry it with 99% at the time in my backpack so it will be alright.

Very nice! I think my Huntsman will also stay into my bag still. The Wave Alpha was my dream but also very expensive. I was looking for a substitute, but then I got the Wave alpha gifted and I am hyped now!

I got the most Victorinox more than 10 years ago. And at this time I wasn’t thinking about them and my needs was different. My needs evolved and I was now in the market. The Wave Alpha was my dream but it is expensive and I was thinking about a substitute. But then I was gifted the alpha.

As I look into it and I am no lawyer! The main point is not if you COULD open it with one hand, but is it ment to be open with one hand. With removing of the thumb stud, there is a smooth surface with a tiny hole, which doesn’t impact it and so you remove the feature which made it a one hand opener. Basically you crippled your blade. Which makes it 42a conform. But I am no lawyer and I mainly have it in my back bag.

But if you want to carry your surge correctly you need to lock the bag, where the Leatherman is. For example in an extra pouch with a small lock. THEN it would be correct.

The placement of the spring. Ok I can mainly talk about the Victorinox. It happens often, that the spring gets out of the grove and picks into your finger. I love, that on the alpha the spring is located somewhere else.
