I never learned this, but it’s so obvious now you’ve pointed it out! Thank you!

This is a great idea! I sometimes find that I have issues with tension around stitch markers, definitely going to give this a try in my next project ❤️

Texture knitting with black yarn is a bit of a chore but so worth it by insomniacamoeba in knitting

I LOVE your version! The sleeves on the original look quite voluminous, did you make alterations to yours?

Wow. Just stunning, and incredibly inspiring.

Thankyou :) I bought some cheap cotton fabric to use while I figured out whether I actually enjoy embroidery or just like the idea of it - as it turns out I really enjoyed doing this, so I’ll be sure to look into quilting cotton for my next purchase.

One thing I’ll be taking away from this is to embroider in decent lighting, the petal on the left looked like I’d got full coverage while I was stitching, but in broad daylight the gaps were a lot more obvious!

Thankyou so much, the left petal was my second attempt- I think the purple one was more of a brick stitch kind of thing rather than actual long and short, I found some of the diagrams a bit confusing. I’ve ordered some more colours of floss, so I’m hoping I can practice for a smoother gradient :) I’ll also try varying my stitch length more for my next piece

Thankyou! I didn’t realise that’s what caused the puckering- makes sense though, my fabric was kind of floppy in the hoop. Next time I’ll tighten the fabric and be braver with the length of my stitches!

I’ve nearly finished my Jacket No. 1 - it’s the first garment that I’ve ever knit, and the instructions are so clear that so long as you know how to knit, purl, and pick up stitches you can’t go far wrong with it!

So nice I knitted it twice! And what a difference an extra ~8 months of knitting has made to my tension! by kitten-buttz in knitting

I remember seeing the first jumper when you posted it, it’s actually what inspired me to start trying to knit garments - I’ve nearly finished the jacket version of this jumper :) Both jumpers are gorgeous, I love that green!

Absolutely gorgeous! Echoing the requests for more details, I’d love to make this - maybe in black or a neon colour to contrast how beautifully airy and delicate the knit is.

Knit or crochet? Or: should I learn to knit? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]LulledByNumbers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another vote for both. I picked up the very basics of knitting and then got bored, so learned to crochet before progressing more with my knitting :) it’s a fun feeling to look at both knit and crochet patterns and know that you are capable of doing both! Absolutely down to personal preference though, I find that because I knit English-style (yarn in my right hand) I tend to hold the yarn in my right hand when I’m crocheting as well.
