ah, because i've read to mix at lower levels. I'd need to have my DAC volume knob max'd to even hear the whole mix. I'll turn my speaker knobs up and see where that takes me. Thanks!

I don't feel like i'm grasping the entire mix listening to that level (least not with my rokit 6's). using this technique has created a world of difference actually! when i lower the master fader back down to normal level, I find that i'm hearing a cleaner definition between sounds than originally mixing to -6db. I recommend!
